Hello everyone, I've lurked around pretty obsessively for the past few days so I thought I'd finally join and say hello, although it's completely against my better judgement because I should be studying instead of feeding my Disney obsession!

I have been to WDW numerous times while visiting friends in FL and on school trips but am finally getting to the point where I will soon be able to afford going on my own, trying restaurants, staying onsite, etc., although my bank account with all of my professional degree loans say otherwise, LOL.:headache:

It's springtime here in central IL, and for some reason I always get an insatiable urge to get my next Disney fix when the weather starts to warm up. Does anyone suffer from my same affliction? You'd think it would be stronger during the winter months with all the snow and cold, and as much as I do wish I were somewhere tropical and warm instead at those times, I'm not drawn to it as much as I am right now!

I think my next trip will be in August because I will be in Orlando attending a conference, I'm kind of bummed because I went last August and it was almost unbearably hot and crowded and I promised myself I'd never go during the summer gain. I guess the pain wasn't enough to keep me from coming back a second time :upsidedow

Okay, but sometimes the only time people can go IS summer - even though it's hot. We have been both in June and in August. I noticed that the second half of August is considered "value season". Does anyone have an opinion of which part of summer is the"least" crowded? If you have to pick June, July or August, when would you go? We are thinking of 2012. And when do the reservations open up for then?
Thanks so much!

I have the "itch" really bad right now. We are not going until next year despite what my ticker says. I just haven't changed it. I don't think I just have the spring itch, it's like the seven year itch. :)

Welcome....welcome....welcome.....Each winter gets worse and worse for me...this one is dragging so bad....we were just there this past December but I need it bad. We didn't have the warm weather last trip we wanted so we're going back to the Sept/Oct time period but I see there are discounts of till Aug 13.....hummmmmmI like the real hot weather...can't beat a cooler of beer, Disney themed resort (WL) and a great pool.....

Welcome and enjoy.:woohoo:

I too have the Disney itch, but we are not going until October.:sad1:

Thanks!! October is still pretty close! When I made my ticker I couldn't believe that it was already less than 4 months to my trip, I wish my advisor would give me more info on the conference so I can plan my Disney trip around it and book a room! :sad1:

I can't say much about the other summer periods because I've never been on an extended stay during any other summer period, but early August is the most crowded I've ever personally experienced. I didn't mean to make it sound so bad, I will add that I had been suffering from a lingering illness since June  so I probably wasn't in the best shape to be standing in 90 degree weather with humidity pushing temps over 100, but it really did put a negative spin on things. Fantasmic! is my favorite show and I got in line at 6 pm for the first showing to get good seats (I was right at the rope with about 40 other people :crowded:) for a 9:05 showing, when we left the line for the 10:30 show was so incredibly long that I don't think they let everyone in. :sad2:

I am interested in what you thought about June in terms of the temp/crowd level! How did you feel it compared to August?

You said it!

See, if I were staying at an onsite resort I think my opinion of the hot season would change drastically! Plus now that I’ve admitted to myself that I’ll probably be making many, many, many more trips in my lifetime I will take the time to slow down, relax, and enjoy rather than try to do all of the parks and all of the rides in one trip! popcorn::

We are itching itching itching to get back down! I'm a teacher and we head down as soon as school is out...usually May 20 something and stay into the first week of June. Ususally try to make at least 10 days. (I love that my DH says we go big or not at all :goodvibes and he needs a yearly fix just like me) But this year we will not be going :scared1: We will be heading to Montana to Glacier National Park with my parents and brother for a week. Montana is my parents' Disney and they are so excited to show us the things they love. We are very excited to go but the Disney withdrawal is killing us! We would be trying to make both trips but my DH had back surgery this year and was out of work for a while so he has no time for two trips this year. This is the time of year when our planning is in full swing! Shopping and packing would be underway and I would be making and re-making my spreadsheets. It is so strange to not be planning at all!!! I keep trying to talk my husband into beginning to plan for 2012 but he says it's too early  NO WAY! I also want to try my hand at a TR so maybe a year long PreTR is in order. Don't know if anyone would read it but I may just try;)

Welcome! I feel you on wanting to get out in the spring, for me its becouse when it starts to get nice out it makes me want to go do things. :thumbsup2

I was going to post something about this as well! :rotfl2:

Seriously......... every time at this time of the year I get a deep itching and obsession about Disney World and everything about it!!

Unfortunately for us this year it will only be dreaming.

But I think that is part of the excitement- dreaming, talking with others about it and than when you actually get to start planning it out- love that part almost as much as I do finally being there!! :worship:

Does anyone else know what I mean?

Anyway............ I've deffinetely been in my Disney mode lately! :ccat:

I know the WDW itch all too well, especially being from Central IL myself. It was an especially cruel winter! The best time of year, in my opinion, to visit WDW us early May. The weather is absolutely perfect - not too hot, zero humidity, and tons of sunshine. The crowd levels are quite low, and you have the added plus of the Flower and Garden Festival. Unfortunately my kids have reached an age where I really can't take them out of school. :0(

This is too funny! I have been having the Disney itch really bad today! I have been on youtube watching videos on Disney and listening to Disney Parks radio all weekend. We usually go in May and this year we are not going until September and it is about to kill me. I think next year we will have to go in May AND September! WooHoo! :woohoo:

Lucky!!! My DBf went with me last summer but I think the crowds and the heat really scared him away, he had a good time because we were there together but I'm hoping the experience didn't turn him away from Disney for life... I don't know what I would do if I was dating someone who didn't like Disney :scared1:

It makes me want to do everything except the things I’m supposed to be doing... :rolleyes1

Um, YES!! I've been planning, planning, planning for my next trip and it has really made this one all the more exciting, I just hope I'm not trying to schedule too much and lose the magic. :wizard: I like my schedules and I don't like deviating from them, so I think I just won't let myself make one except for deciding which parks we're going to on which day and where we're going to eat.

Champaign??? Hello, neighbor! :rotfl: I've never been in May but I would LOVE to go for the Flower and Garden Festival... someday!!

Two trips in one year would be amazing!! I'm jealous!

Welcome! I get the itch for WDW in the spring too! Luckily I will be scratching that itch in 3 weeks. YAY! Hope the DIS helps pacify you for a while.

Hi back, neighbor! Yes, Champaign! Small world! Making the final payment for our upcoming trip - we leave June 4th. It can't get here soon enough!

Thanks!! I'm really enjoying the people on here, and I've learned so much already! Wish I had known about this place earlier. Enjoy your trip! :woohoo:

Small world indeed! I saw your post before the edit, I'm at the vet school :dogdance: Do you know how the June crowds are?

Too funny! I removed the last sentence, because I was worried I'd violated the personal rule. June is quite crowded, but I'm limited on when I can take my kids now that they're in highschool. This year I'm going with the attitude that I'm not going to let anything, including crowds, stress me out. I'm there to relax and have fun with my kids at the happiest place on earth! We're going durIng Star Wars Weekends, and Star Tours will have just re-opened, so HS will be busier than ever, but we'll survive! These last 45 days feel like they're never going to get here! My mouth is already watering for a Mickey head ice cream bar. Even when I was sitting outside tonight freezing at my daughter's softball game, I still wanted it!
