Taking the family up to Springfield MA tomorrow to visit the Springfield Science Museum and I am looking for any places to eat not too familiar with the area so any help for places would be extremely helpful.

The Red Rose on Main Street is fantastic. Not too far from the museums, maybe 1 1/2 miles if that. Very good Italian food, and very popular and family friendly. There is a large parking lot in the back. Go down the side street to access the lot. Enjoy the museums. The Dr. Seuss sculptures in the quadrangle are great.

Since you are so close to Main St - 3 blocks down - try Hot Table right in the building at the corner of Main and Boland Way -across the side street from the Monarch Place. Great sandwiches and salads. It is a short walk - 5 min - down Harrison Ave - cross Dwight St, then the next block is Harrison and Main. There is your Hot Table!!

BTW - while you are at the Sceince Museum, check out the Dr Suess sculptures all over the Quadrangle, then move on to the new Museum at the far end of the Quadrangle. Have fun!!
Dd you also know the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame is right there too? It is right next to I 91 and they have some great restaurants there too!

Thank you for your help. We are going to check the Dr Seuss garden and my sons are looking forward to seeing the Art of Lego displays.

I second the Red Rose recommendation. It's a local, family run institution. Famous for pizza. From the museums, head downhill to Main Street and turn south (left). You'll find it 4-6 blocks down Main.

wow..did that name bring up memories..I lived in MA all my life till 10 years ago..and frequented the Red Rose many many times..can't even believe that it's still there..they were great when I used to go!

Fireman 17 where did you end up having your meal? Did you enjoy the museums?

Over by the Basketball Hall of Fame, we love Pazzo's and Max's Tavern. We used to love Onyx Fusion but their chef went back to Hawaii and there isn't much "fusion" going on. They are turning into a quasi Italian restaurant. Of course there is nothing wrong with Italian restaurants but I can assure you, there is no shortage of them in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
