Hi, i had it wrong thinking May was after the April love bugs.. but then i read an article saying May was the month.. i had a trip booked. I've experienced them in the fall, it was a late September trip and it was terrible with all the love bugs.. DD2 would freak out :scared:

Can anyone give me a good idea of when the love bugs appear? So is April a good month, but not May? We did go in April once in 2007 and had no problems with love bugs, but i thought we were just lucky to have missed them.

:flower3:

We go every May and always have to deal with the love bugs. They don't bother us at all. Just some harmless little bugs but we don't mind nature and bugs like some do. My mom hates them and she lives in Florida lol

we have a similar bug here in Indiana in the fall, just now going away, and it is almost identical only the appearance is a little different. Crane fly is the name of them. So i should not go for May. Early April?

Love bug season is in May. They are at the worse during mothers day weekend. The past two yrs have not been bad actually. The yrs that they are bad wow can't even pump my gas with them around. I'm pretty sure Disney does something to help keep the numbers down. Cause I live 2 hrs south and they come to you like swarms. So bad you can't see anything.

We were there 2 years ago at the last week of April and first week of May and they were present. They are not so bad if you are not wearing white LOL Little haha moment. One of my daughter is terrified but I mean terrified of bugs. She will scream at nothing. Well she decided to wear all white although we had told her not to. Forward a few hours, we walk into MK and we were talking about how the bugs weren't so bad compare to what we read. Next thing, she 's screaming at the top of her lungs and she's the only one out of the 5 of us that was loved by the love bug ;) She learned her lesson and never wore white again and life was good.

In my experience, they are not bad enough at WDW to plan your trip around. Now, if you leave Disney property, they're worse (and I saw more at the hotel than anywhere else, and it was still minimal).

We drove to the coast a few years ago though and they were REALLY gross. The rental car was COVERED.

If you're really going to plan your trip around it (which is always a gamble as weather is what's going to make them earlier or later) I was there the 2nd week of April last year (well, this year, 2013) and didn't notice any.

Not sure about early May. We have been there around Memorial day 3 times and never had any issues with love bugs. I am guessing by the end of the month they are gone and I'm sure Disney is doing what they can to minimize them.

I do remember seeing a lot of threads around late April.

we experienced rhem in fall at disney and there were tons. having them flying about and swattibg your food while trying to eat was gross. couldn't barely get into our Pop room without swatting for minutes.
