Spring discount questions

We are planning our next trip for May 2017. Usually we rent DVC points for a two bedroom Villa but I've been looking at the Spring rates on the Disney website and there's not much of a price difference. I'd rather book directly through Disney and have the option of changing a date if needed, also I have more time to make payments. But I'm curious if the Spring rates are the same each year? If I book now will they update next year when the discounts are released? To make it worth it I will need the two bedroom Villa to be 25% or 30% off. We usually stay at AKV but it's cheaper at SSR and OKW so we will stay at one of those resorts if we book through Disney. I love OKW!!! SSR looks beautiful, although we have never stayed there. I think it would be neat staying at SSR! We live in the actual Saratoga Springs NY that the resort in designed after and they did an awesome job at even the tiniest of details :)

If you look at mousesavers.com you can see historical discounts. The summer discounts are the same this year as last year.

Also, you can book now and have a discount applied later, but you will have to call, it won't automatically be applied when it is released.

Discounts aren't automatically applied AND there's no guarantee you can apply it. Having something book ahead of time doesn't give you any kind of edge. If there's 10 rooms allowed to have a discount and you're the 11th person trying to apply it, you'll be out of luck. Being flexible would be helpful (dates and resorts).

This is absolutely true.

We booked a BC CL room as we saw lots of deluxe rooms were getting booked up during our stay. Then once discounts came out, the best we could do there was to switch to yacht club in a deluxe room for a whopping $150 of savings over the full price BC lagoon view CL room. Then from there I kept checking and found a contemporary theme park view room on club level for an additional $150 off so I'm still only saving $300 but this is the room we want this trip. There are only so many rooms and room categories in the discount, so remember that you may have to change resorts or room types to get the discount applied and then it may not be what you were truly hoping for in terms of the price.

I didn't know that's how it worked :( Now I'm not sure what to do. I thought the discount would be applied as long as I called during the dates you had to book by. Thanks for the info!

No. They limit rooms and room types. Even resorts in general.
