Spring comes slowly here in Chicago...but some signs of hope

Spring is normally very stubborn about arriving here. Today was almost 70..that means it will be 30 in a day or so
I ran outside and found a few signs of hope here

Some of my VERY EARLY bulbs peaking thier heads up

My red maple is normally slow too, compared to the elms in the area...but she is budding!

Hang in there folks spring is coming!

Noticed some of the grass seed I planted last fall and / or this winter is coming up and my new lilac bush has 2 leaves on it - and my tulips are coming up

I agree Vanessa, they are a beautiful color! I am lucky to have them in my front yard. Hopefully tomorrow I can remember to take a picture of them during the day light hours (that and finish cleaning out the "gunk" around them)

I know the little sprouts of tulips & daffodils I saw this afternoon were not there on Saturday. They seem to have peeked their heads out just over the last two days -- the warmer weather has been nice. But, Patrick is right, looks like they are forecasting snow for the weekend here!

By the way, I love the crocus'......I planted hundreds of them when we first moved into the house but they only came up the first spring. Now, the couple that are in the neighbors yard (because we had to redo our fence since it was on her property) still come up but not a 1 in our yard. I must have done something very wrong. Oh well, maybe someday I'll try again.

We have some bulbs popping up too - they look like Patrick's at the moment but I can't believe how my tulips seem to be popping up already. I can't wait til they really come up. Last year was the first year for them to bloom and it appears that they may have duplicated themselves during the winter and last fall cause there are more clusters than there were last year....it's so exciting!!!! I can't wait til they open.

Spring is in the air here as well..... maybe I should say spring fever is in the air.... I can't wait for it to be nice every day without the spurts of 30 degree weather! Gotta love being in the midwest!

Both of those pictures are beautiful.

My trees are budding too Patrick. And my lilac bushes.

And I went out to my herb garden, and there are the chives popping up like crazy.
