Hi. We will be going to DW April 17-23 this year. We have been before but only during June, July or August.
Are the crowds the same or are we in for a shock.
My son has Autism and is fine during those months so long as we avoid parades. Any thought?

I agree. Arrive early for rope drop (30 minutes+), avoid parades and fireworks, and only do Fantasyland in the mornings. Have fun! I know its crowded, but the March/April weather in FL is just the best after a long depressing winter!

Definitely arrive early and all of the other normal things. It seems really late for spring break to me, but we get out of school before Memorial Day.

There are a lot of different spring breaks so not every one is out at the same time I will be there the week after I go every year this time just be aware there are cheernleader at Disney and I wish there was not.

The crowds will be better than summer. Rule of thumb is whenever school is out, crowds increase proportionately. In summer, everyone is out. Thanksgiving, Christmas, everyone is out. But the third week of April it will only be certain sections of the country. A lot of states move their spring break depending on Easter and Easter is April 1st. So you'll see a lot of New Englanders (who always have the 3rd week of April off no matter what), but less from the rest of the country. There is a big cheerleader thing going on, but they're competing a lot of the time and not at the parks fully. And the weather will be so much more pleasant than summer, which I think helps a lot when you're dealing with crowds or waiting. Your family will have a blast! :)

I'm in New England -- our break is 4th week of April this year, April 23-27, so it's not all of New England off that week.

Thanks for the advice.
Will stick to early mornings forgoing sleeping in.

The weather is one aspect I was hoping would be better than summer time. Good to know it will be. Not a fan of the 90+ temps and high humidity in Aug.
Thanks

It's in the 90's some days right now. Definitely expect temps in the 80's-90's. But the humidity will be a little less than the summer. So it won't be as brutal as August, but it'll be plenty hot

The bulk of the SB rush is the two weeks on either side of Easter (4/1). I would guess at least half the school districts in the country still set their SB around Easter.

So I would expect crowds to be no heavier than your summer trips when traveling that late in April. As noted, you'll probably run into tons of people from the same regions/school districts that have a set SB week.

I agree that the crowds shouldn't be too bad. Most spring breaks are over by then.
The weather should be really enjoyable, too!

Could also be in the low 70's. We've had both.

Wow, 90’s already. I’ll prepare for the heat and hope for the best.
Thanks
