Spring Break WDW Trip

Hey Everybody,

This is my first time posting on here and discovered on the message board and discovered it while doing some research on the Disney Dining Plan.

My girlfriend and I are planning a senior year spring break trip to WDW during next March and haven't really decided on any specifics yet. We've been saving up for quite some time now and really want to make this a lot of fun. She hasn't been to Disney many times and neither of us have been there without are families before.

Right now we're stuck on where to stay. I've stayed at the Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, AK Lodge, and Beach Club Resort over the years and she's been to only the GF and Beach Club. We've narrowed down a short list based on our budget and tastes and those resorts are basically the Wilderness Lodge and AK Lodge.

If anyone else has any ideas or input for traveling to WDW for spring break please let us know. Thanks!

Well I've been there a few times during spring break (Easter weeks) and it is a madhouse. I guess it just depends on your touring style and desires. For us, we have been so many times that we were quite ok with going to the parks in the morning, leaving by lunch, and either taking a VERY long break and returning at night, or just not going back that day. We did plenty of resort things (spa, minigolf, shopping, time at the pool) so we didn't feel "cheated".

I guess it just depends on what the two of you want to accomplish. Major park time or little park time and lots of relaxation?

I'd also say that your choice of resort would be dependent upon whether you want to make use of the facilities or not.

As you might imagine, spring break is a very busy time! I have only been to WDW once during that time - in 2000. We took Amtrak because of really great fares and stayed at the CR. We arrived at the CR at 2:00 p.m. and did not get into our room until after 7:00 p.m. - the lobby was absolutely packed! I'm sure the other resorts have similar experiences. The weather was very nice; we needed a light jacket in the evenings. The parks were all pretty crowded. As we have been to WDW numerous times, we visited the attractions we could and didn't worry about the rest - knowing we will be back many more times! We have not stayed at the two resorts you are considering, but both are very nice resorts. Plan to be up early to see the attractions and take a mid-afternoon break if you can to relax a bit. The parks are open later at spring break, which helps a lot. It is a great time to visit - just a little too busy for us!

I guess the advantage I have then is that the college spring break is much earlier than the normal spring break, which usually ends up being around Easter. For Virginia Tech, our spring break is always the first full week in March, and, as it turns out, this is one of the Wonderful Weeks of Disney. Supposedly, according to the Disney website, this is one of the slowest weeks of the year and I guess they try to do some extra things to attract visitors (freebies? ). So the crowds shouldn't be too bad I hope.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't the WL much closer in proximity to all the parks, being a MK resort, than the AKL and it also has a boat ferry to the MK?
