So after a few days to decompress, it's time to put to words our last trip.
We left early saturday morning, and got into Anaheim around 1130am, so we went straight to the parks since our room at Anaheim Plaza Inn & Suites wasn't ready. We knocked out a few rides, and since we had plans with some friends for that evening, we went down to Trader Sams for some drinks while we left.
Now if you've never been there, I highly recommend it. Between the wife and I, we knocked off about 8 drinks and had a flat bread for a light lunch and after tip, was about 125, so par for the course to drink in a resort area. The drinks were delicious though and not watered down.
That night, our friends took us to the fried chicken place at Knotts Berry Farm. Best. Fried. Chicken. Ever.! Seriously, I don't think I can have fried chicken again, and the prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. Our waitress actually was shocked that we asked for garlic fries as an appetizer when we ordered.
After that, we got dropped off at our hotel, checked in and went to bed. Now, if you are looking for a quiet, no frills cheap hotel that is walking distance, this place is great. If you are looking for high end amenities, deluxe beds, lcd tv's, etc, you won't be happy with this place. For $495 after tax/parking for 5 Nights though, you can't beat it.
Sunday was a start to finish day at the park. Started in Fantasy land, and worked our way around. That night we ate at ESPN bar with 5 other friends we knew. To my shock, they had pretty much immediate seating at 530 and our waitress was awesome. Pricey for bar food, but still good.
Monday we slept in after two early mornings and got to the park around 1100. We took it easy that day as we had dinner plans at Steakhouse 55. We had an 1130 lunch reservation at Carnation Cafe. I had the chicken fried steak, and I can't remember what the wife had, but it was delicious. I think I may prefer the breakfast here, but still very good. This was by far the slowest day at the park though as spring break for Anaheim and LA counties was over.
Now for Steakhouse 55. One Word. Amazing. We had a 6pm reservation and we got there early, so they sat us at the lounge where we both had a drink to start. At around 6pm we were sat and given our menus. I had the prime rib with yukon mashed potatoes, my wife had the fillet mignon with the au gratin potatoes. And yes, we both had drinks. She wound up having 3 glasses of rose wine, I had a heffenweisen and another ultimate long island iced tea.
Portion wise, I was quite shocked at how big the sides were. These were easily shareable. We so wanted the 24 Layer cake after dinner, but was so stuffed. My wife settled on the creme brule (yea, I probably mis-spelled that) and a glass of wine, I ordered a crown royal reserve. To our shock, they brought us out a small slice of the 24 layer chocolate cake since the wife and I were celebrating an anniversary. The waiter explained it's normally mousse, but they ran out, so yes we scored our 24 layer cake
After dinner, we were stuffed, so after relaxing outside the firepit in front of trader sam's, it was time to go back to the hotel.
Tuesday was our walk in Walts Footsteps tour. If you haven't done this tour yet, and you have an interest in the history of Disneyland, do it. I was a little hesitant on the price (about 88 dollars per person with passholder/AAA discount) but was so worth it. The whole tour took about three and a half hours. The lunch was a basic sandwich or salad with dessert and a bottle of soda or water.
After the tour we went over to DCA for a good part of the afternoon, which included dinner at Flo's. Lines were getting much shorter though. We did do Grizzly Rapids where we did see once we were at the top that Screaming was down and they had to evacuate people from the top of the hill. We decided not to go on that the rest of the trip lol.
Wednesday we started at DCA for breakfast at Flo's, then a quick single rider on Radiator Springs before hitting Disneyland again. We took it easy and at 6 had dinner reservations at Blue Bayou. BB was delicious as usual, and our group did a quick Pirates then Indy run before ending the night.
Thursday was our checkout day and we did another short half day in Disneyland. This was by far the quietest day in the park. Outside of SM, everything was about 20 minutes or less. We knocked out a few rides, then hit world of disney for a few gift souvenirs before driving home. Traffic out of LA was annoying as usual, added about an hour to our commute. Overall though the trip was great and looking forward to our next trip, hopefully around Christmas.
