Spring Break Survival Thread

2 weeks for us!! Crazy to think we won't even have landed for another hour and half at this time, blegh. I keep wanting to start packing but it's just too early!

The only thing left to do is book the airport shuttle - I'm leaning towards Super Shuttle but I just don't know! any recommendations?

That's the shuttle place we're using too, the Queen Mary hotel recommended it.

we use Super Shuttle all the time and never had any issues with them...book it on-line and then you don't have to worry about paying for it later, you can even add a tip if you want!

My first post to this thread. Our family leaves on Monday, 4/1! DH and I visited as youngsters over 30 years ago. I still have my ears!!:earsgirl: This will be DS (10 years old) first trip. Tonight at dinner, we were dreaming out loud about "what will we be doing this day next week at exactly this time?". :chat:

We fly PDX to LAX, take the shuttle and are staying at the Fairfield Inn. Our trip is from 4/1 to 4/5. We are prepared for busy crowds, but a dear friend shared a helpful/kind observation - he said when he visited Disneyland with his family, it was really busy, but he doesn't remember the crowds, he remembers the magic and the special time with his family.:grouphug:

I have read books, on-line resources and bought a touring plans subscription. We want to be prepared, but expect to "wing" it a bit as necessary. We don't have any dinner reservations. We plan to arrive at the park early, rest/swim/etc. at the motel in the afternoon and return for the evening.

Any suggestions for which park-which day for Magic Morning is appreciated!

Thanks!!!

you'll really like the Fairfield! walking takes about 10 minutes or so to the gates! my best advice get to the parks for rope drop and get your top rides done first!
Magic Morning is only at Disneyland NOT CA Adventure!
your friend gave you some great advice....just enjoy and whatever you get done, you get done!
utilize fast passes when you can and have fun!

one more sleep for us!!!! finishing up our packing today ....we will arrive at DLH around 6pm tomorrow!

safe travels to all who are leaving and have a trip filled with pixiedust:

We had a great time this week! The crowds were the worst on Monday, and moderate at all other times...on Monday it was just packed. We are already planning our next trip, which will not be during spring break:rotfl:

So glad you had a great time!

We are down to 1 day, I can't believe it.... I left work early to finish the packing, we head to the airport at 5:45 am Eastern tomorrow! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Sooo cool! Starting April 13th and running until September!

Iron Man Armor Display coming to Innoventions at DL

Disneyland officially announced this morning that a new exhibit will be making its way to the "Innoventions" section of Tomorrowland this April and it is none other than Tony Stark's Hall of Armors from the Iron Man films. Not only will you be able to see the suits of armor used in the movies, but there will be a surprising amount of interactive stations as well. Here's what they say about the upcoming exhibit:

"Beginning April 13, Iron Man Tech Presented by Stark Industries will give Disneyland park guests the chance to see Tony Stark’s Hall of Armor, featuring Iron Man suits Mark I-VII – the same suits featured in “Iron Man 3.” And you will even be able to virtually “suit up,” yourself! Through simulation technology, guests will be able to see what it’s like to operate the latest pieces of the Mark 42 Iron Man armor, even getting the chance to test out its infamous repulsor blasts."

Disneyland confirmed that the exhibit will only be around for a limited time and will run from April through September of this year."

We are leaving one week from today! We live in Washington State and will spend 3 days driving down. We purchased 5 day tickets and will spend 4 in DL and one in DCA.

We are staying at the Peacock Suites.

Wish us luck on our road trip!

Good luck! We are also heading down from WA but in 10 days on a plane.

We are headed home from our trip now :( The crowds were intense, but manageable if you got to the park at opening and had a clear plan and realistic expectations. Dinner at Napa Rose was one of the coolest experiences I've ever had while dining - we spent most of our meal bantering back and forth with all of the chefs! Cars Land was excellent, too.

To those still waiting to travel - enjoy! Hopefully you'll have a blast just like we did.

Hi,

Just found out that my DH has planned a surprise trip for my 50th birthday next week! I'm so excited. We arrive on Monday 4/1 thru Wed. 4/3!! My birthday is on April 2nd. We're staying at DLH :woohoo:

today is the day! first off my DD is an official teenager  and we are leaving for DL :cool1: can't wait to celebrate my sweet girl!

Are the crowds expected to be the same next week...or a little lighter after Easter....or not?!? (looking at a day trip next Thursday) Have fun, everyone!!

I hope the parks are a little lighter all next week 4/1 - 4/6 as we arrive into John Wayne @ 7:30am then headed over to GC. I'm hoping we have time to get a FP for RSR after checking in. Anyone think this is doable? :confused3

Either way we will be at DL

I'm coming a bit late to this party, but just haven't had time to lurk before this trip!

We arrive at VGC around dinnertime on 4/1 and check out 4/7. Normally I wouldn't try to do the crazy crowds, but my oldest is in the high school band and they're going to be at DL from 4/1-4/5 (pnwsurfer - I'm sorry to say they will be at the Fairfield with you!).:rotfl2:

My sister and her family arrive the day we leave - their spring break is the week after ours, or we would have come together. She's concerned because the hours are supposed to be short and not as many fireworks, etc., but I would have traded with her - less crowds, later EMH :faint:, about half the points to stay at VGC and cheaper airfare! Oh well. We go often enough that our main focus will be to see the band play on Thursday (4/4, at 12:15 at Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree stage, if anyone wants to check it out :thumbsup2) and see Carsland, which was under construction the last time we were there. I'm just hoping between "wide right" and FP we get to ride RSR a couple times. ::yes::

Here's also hoping we get a little pixie dust for our Paradise Pier view! pixiedust:

Have a magical time everyone! :wave2:

Hey all! Checked in yesterday, got a fantastic WOC view! Standing in line for baggage check, not took many people here yet..,.

Yay for you on the view! We requested PP view, but we'll see what we get - arriving late on a Monday may not give us the best choices. Needing some pixiedust:

Maybe we'll run into you, aroundtheriverbend. I have a pink Minnie-head lanyard with a green Mickey head hanging from it... what are the odds?

How was the first day? Crowds, etc.?

Forgot to mention before that DH and I will be dining by ourselves at Napa Rose on Friday night for our 27th anniversary. :lovestruc:love: I'm very much looking forward to that!

See ya real soon!

T-minus 9 days till we leave........which means SINGLE DIGIT PARTY!!! I'm half tempted to get the suitcase out now and start packing, only because I know it'll be next week before we know it!
