Hi, and welcome to my second Disney Dining Review! This review has a completely different cast of characters than my first review, and a lot more food! I was diligent in my picture taking this trip…although a couple of snacks and counter services not eaten in my presence managed to slip by unphotographed. My mom, sister, and I drove to Disney to on March 6 and stayed until the 14th when we left. It was an awesome spring break trip with very manageable crowds. I noticed that the later in the week it was the more crowded it was, probably having something to do with the cheerleading groups that were in for a competition. The weather in Orlando was beautiful; sunny and warm but not fry-an-egg-on-the-pavement-hot, and a nice breeze most of the day. The evenings did get a little chilly with that wind; I was glad I brought my sweater!

Now it’s time to meet the characters in this lovely dining review! Well…I hope that it’s lovely! Haha!

My mom is 49 and not sensitive about her age at all! She’s a very hip lady. This was my mom’s first trip to Disney World ever! She let me do all of the planning and preferred it that way. In some pictures you might see that my mom is in a wheel chair. This is because she has Planter’s Faciitis, a very painful food condition caused by constantly working jobs that have required her to be on her feet, as well as some issues she has with her hip from a bad fall. She felt guilty having me push her around but I refused to have her waste money on a scooter! Her palate is very simple. She doesn’t care for “fancy” foods or anything with a very complex flavour. One of her comments about the dining was, that although she loved all of the meals, she would have been fine just eating counter service. Her favourite foods are hamburgers and French fries and she can not LIVE without Diet Coke!

My little sister is 13 years old and, as you might imagine, spent the majority of the trip texting! Everytime I’d look at her, her thumbs would be all over her phone. This was also her first trip to Disney World, as well as her first vacation. Maggie eats like a bird. She eats a few bites of a few things multiple times a day. When she’s hungry, however, and her blood sugar gets too low, she gets very irritable and shaky, so we always tried to find her food immediately when she was hungry. As far as taste, Maggie is very picky and likes plain food. She’s not a fan of vegetables or sauce on anything, and is a huge lover of carbs. While we were at Disney she ate a lot of cheeseburgers but also branched out and tried some new things that she actually liked!

I’m seventeen and this was my third time going to Disney. Of course I took pictures of everything, edible and not. I recently went through a bad break up that I was worried Disney would only remind me of, but I managed to hold it together very well and have a great time. When it comes to food, I’m not picky about what I’ll try, just about the way things are presented. I can’t stand anything being covered in sauce or gravy and always ask for it on the side. I also eat very little red meat and can not stand ground meat, or anything even resembling ground meat, as you’ll see later! I like trying new things and LOVE sweets.

So, there’s our introduction. Below I’m listing all the places I’ll be reviewing, and then I’ll get started on the actual reviews! T = table service, Q = quick service, S = snack

You seem very mature for 17 btw

Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments!

Let's start at the very beginning...
A very good place to start!

We got to the hotel very late on Saturday night and all of us were hungry and tired. We'd gotten in to a little familial spat on the way over thanks to getting lost in what appeared to be the ghetto of Orlando (by this point I was at the end of my wire from being in the car for so long), so Ma decided to "take a walk" around the resort for a couple of hours. Maggie and I were, miraculously, getting along fine, and since we were so exhausted and still had everything to unpack, we decided to order pizza from the Pop, which I paid out of pocket for.

The pizza came in about 45 minutes; not bad at all. The price was just over $20 dollars, with gratuity included, though I still tipped the girl who delivered the pizza because it felt weird not to. We had the option to use two table service credits from the dining plan and get the pizza, plus a litre of soda and two desserts, but this seemed like a major waste to me, especially since I planned all of our dining out before we came. The pizza was very hot when it arrived and very tasty...though I must admit it didn't taste much different than the personal pizza you get anywhere in the parks. It came with plates, napkins, and packets of red pepper and Parmesan cheese. All in all, it was tasty, but nothing special.

We slept in the next day, so no breakfast. This is a pretty normal trend with us; I'm not a big breakfast eater, and neither is my sister. My mom ate breakfast from the food court a couple of times but, alas, she didn't photograph it. Anyway, the next day Maggie and I got a couple of snacks before heading out to Magic Kingdom.

Maggie had the Vitamin Water, which she claimed was "delicious". I split the carrots and celery pack with my mom. It came with ranch dipping sauce. The vegetables were crisp, flavorful, and quite a large serving.

The Plaza is on it's way!

I wondered about POP's pizza delivery. We wanted to do it last year but were always too tired when we got back.

Can't wait for more!

Can't wait to read all your reviews. It sounds like you had a great trip! We're going in 51 days...and counting!

It sounds like an awesome trip:flower3: Of the past trips you went to Disney, you didn't take your "Ma" along....

excited to hear from someone who doesn't care for "fancy"...that's my DH to a tea!

Hey, don't be too angry with me!
My ex boyfriend's mom paid for the trips...there was no way I was going to turn them down! And I made sure that this trip was extra special for her. =)

Wow! This report seems really fun. We are off to POP in 14 days and I can't wait. I am looking forward to more or your report. What a wonderful girl to look out for your Ma and Little sis.

Thank you everyone for your wonderful responses!
There's nothing like getting on to type up another review and seeing all the people cheering you on!

Just to let you know, we have a scoring system we used.
1 out of 5, 1 being the worst, 5 being the best
Also, they're only being judged within their own category...so a 5 counterservice isn't necessarily better than a 4 table service. Make sense?

Alright, so the first sit-down meal of the trip was at The Plaza. There's a bit of a story behind this reservation...as there are with several reservations on this trip! Basically, when I was planning the trip, I was looking at a chart of EMH for the week we were going. For some reason, at that time, the information on WDWinfo was incorrect. Not realizing this, I made my plans based on it...

A week before we left for vacation, I double checked EMH on the Disney website...and several of mine were wrong! This meant dining reservations made two months in advance were now in the wrong parks! I was very frustrated, but I managed to make some last minute changes. One of the restaurants was The Plaza, which my mom thought sounded good. I'd never eaten at this restaurant before, though I had sat in it briefly before deciding to eat at Tony's instead.

The atmosphere of the Plaza was loud and crowded. I felt so bad for the people without reservations who were trying to get dinner in Magic Kingdom before they had to leave due to the park "closing"; only being open for EMH, you know. I don't understand how anyone can go on vacation and not plan ahead...!! Anyway. The Plaza was very crowded. We were seated too close for comfort to couple, though we just ignored them as best we could. Our waitress was polite, but obviously very busy, as my refills were slow. Still, she was very pleasant, and she had a very demanding party seated near us that were giving her a hard time.

Maggie got the Cheese Burger with cheddar cheese and bacon. As usual, she put no vegetables and no condiments at all on her burger, which sounds crazy to me! Haha. She also got french fries on the side.
Positive: "Good bun, well cooked bacon"
Negative: "Fries had pickle juice all over them"

For dessert she had the Brownie Sundae, which was HUGE and came with ice cream, whipped cream, and a cherry.
Positive: "Moist, delicious, chocolaty"
Negative: "Brownie not warm, very big portion"
Total Score: 3.5

Ma got the Cheese Burger with cheddar cheese and mushrooms. She also added on lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo. It came with fries as well.
Positive: "Good flavour for the bun"
Negative: None

Although not big on dessert, Ma loves cheesecake, and so that's exactly what she ordered. It came covered in strawberries and whipped cream.
Positive: "Creamy, tasty, smooth"
Negative: "No crust"
Total Score: 4

I had the Plaza Club for dinner, which consisted of toasted bread, mayo, turkey, ham, bacon, lettuce, and tomato. I also got fries on the side.
Positive: "Very tasty french fries, large sandwhich"
Negative: "Nothing special, slow refills"

3363760515_098d949ede.jpg

My dessert was a delicious Cookies & Cream Sundae with hot fudge, whipped cream, nuts, and a cherry, served with an edible white chocolate "Celebrate Today!" token and sprinkles.
Positive: "Great presentation, very tasty, not too melty, just what I wanted"
Negative: "Very messy!"
Total Score: 3

As you'll see, I usually score lower than my mom and sister when it comes to meals. Maybe it's because I'm picky, or because I've had more experience dining at Disney, or because when something's AMAZING I want to show people that it's really amazing. But whatever the reason, when you're making decisions about where to dine, remember that my mom prefers simple tastes, my sister prefers plain things, and I think excellent service is just as important as excellent food!

Next up? Cosmic Ray's.
