Spring Break or Day After School Gets Out?

Up until this past trip, our kids have been young enough that taking them out of school for WDW wasn't an issue. Regretably, now it is. And we are a "don't pull the kids out of school for Disney" family. Now we are left to ponder the age old DISer question: Spring Break or Third Week of June?

We know the main issues are:
1.) Crowd levels
2.) Heat
3.) Cost (We are DVC owners, so our cost is in points, but it is still cost!)

But I'm sure there are other elements that I'm not even considering. Anyone care to share their thoughts on this one? We just got back yesterday, and 2010 is already on the brain. (I know you will understand!) :-) Help me decide which way to go!

We know the main issues are:
1.) Crowd levels June is when the Florida people go so it could be bad as bad as SB.
2.) Heat Ya, it going to be hot in June but it could be milder at SB time.
3.) Cost (We are DVC owners, so our cost is in points, but it is still cost!) You will be in Magic season so the points are just about the same at either time.

But I'm sure there are other elements that I'm not even considering. Anyone care to share their thoughts on this one? We just got back yesterday, and 2010 is already on the brain. (I know you will understand!) :-) Help me decide which way to go!
We have gone at our childrens' Spring Break for years. I would much rather deal with crowds in the milder temperatures, then in the heat of summer.

For me it would depend on how long you are going. If you will be able to go longer after school gets out, I'd go then even though it will be hot. You could do a more leisurely pace and plan for a couple "pool" or water park days to just relax.

If you have a shorter period of time to see everything, maybe I'd go spring break. Also...if you need a break from cold weather, I'd say go then. (We are going tomorrow!)

Happy planning!

lol! My goal is to get DH to see the light about Jersey Week. I'm all for it, but he still sees it as taking the kids out of school. Technically I guess he's right, but what he doesn't understand is that very little actually occurs during the two school days they have that week. I need a couple of years to prove that to him before I have any hope of making Jersey Week our vacation week. :-)

How old are the kids? Now that my oldest is in JH, I definitely wouldn't take her out a week, but we could get a 10 day vacation with them only missing 2 days of school (we did this last year). The weather was beautiful - not a single drop of rain, and we swam every day.

This is going to be our new predicament too. I would consider Spring Break if you dates aren't too close to Easter---the week before and after gets jam packed w/both Easter and SBs. I would consider that, or even winter break in Feb. -- I know I am ready to get away from winter right about now, but I guess it may have been too cold when you were just there? Gotta be able to swim, too!

For now, we are planning on late August/Sept. before labor day, when crowds will hopefully be lower. I think the temps will be steamy whether it is June or Aug., so we will hope for smaller crowds. We've gone this time before and it allows you to take a vacation longer than a week. The crowds were very manageable (except in restaurants!!!) and the only little worry is hurricane season!

I have a little mother/daughter trip planned and DVC resort availability seemed maxed...I was a bit surprised, thinking going the first week of June would be lighter, but really most everything was booked except for weekends.

Two years ago we went from June 19-30 and though it was hot, it was not unbearable. Crowds were fairly light.

We went last year the week preceding Easter and I didn't think it was that bad but we left on Good Friday. The weather was great, but the trip (6 nights) was too short.
We are going in June b/c my kids only get one day off for Easter/Spring break this year. Were supposed to get 3 days off of school, but the snow days took them away!
For me, I would choose spring if you could go for at least a week.
