Just read on another thread about the various spring break times and we will be there during some of those times. We are staying on site so my question is it really that necessary for us to be at park opening if we are stying on site? Since we are doing disney first and usually have to get up early to hit the major rides before the crowds I was hopping that we would be able to relax on our Universal trip and taking our time when it comes to the parks. So any advice on touring stragedy would be appreiciated. Thank you

if you are staying onsite , relax, you will have fotl benefits.....

your longest wait for a ride/attraction could be 15 minutes tops.

still, i would be at the gate for the opening time to avoid crowds.
crowds would start around 11 in the morning.

that little hotel key card is like gold

Besides, wouldnt you really rather hang out by the awesome pools they have in the late afternoon after a busy morning at the parks? Then leisurely get up and go to Citywalk, perhaps one more ride on the HULK before it closes? Sounds like my type of plan.

School Calendar is here.

Arriving early when staying on site is subjective, I always suggest getting an early start. Some like to sleep in, others go commando.

Yes, you have FOTL, BUT, the crowd arrives between 11am and 4pm and the walkways are crowded. Not to mention, the express lines for the major attractions at those times can be 20 minutes. For example, the line for Hulk at noon will most likely be 20 minutes.
--------------------------
Reasons why you want an early start, even if you are staying onsite and have FOTL.

Show up at the gate at 08:00am, go in first, and get a front seat ride on Hulk and a back seat ride. The perfect way to start your day.

Dr. Doom, walk on
Spiderman, walk on

Head to the back of the park and ride both sides of Deuling Dragons in the FRONT ROW of each coaster. FOTL can get you on the ride quick, but not in the front row.

Continue around the park doing the water rides.

-------------------
Other option after Spiderman is to head directly to Pteranondon Flyers and get 3 rides before the kid rule goes into effect. This is a pleasant ride, but a lot of fun when you can walk up and get your ride. FOTL does not get you on this ride, you must show up early before the kid rule goes into effect.

So basically, I'm saying to show up early so you can get front seat rides on Hulk, Deuling Dragons, and ride PF before the kid rule.

Trust me, showing up early counts. It's the key to a great day.

Thanks for all the great advice. We are usually early risers so getting there early is not a problem, just wanted to know just how relaxed we can be with FOLP. We are staying 5 nights on site so I figured this would give us plenty of time to do the parks and enjoy our resort.

We were there last spring break and had a ball. The crowds were not that bad at all, we stayed at the rpr, and had no problems with lines, i think the longest was 15 min. We were even there for easter and no problems, the only problem was finding chairs by the pools but the parks never seemed that packed, any questions feel free to ask.

What about the resteraunts? How crowded was it to find some place to eat? I already have a lunch reservation for Emeril's one afternoon so I was wondering where else would be a good place to eat. And if there is such a thing I really don't want to spend a lot of money on meals since we are going to splurge at Emerils. Any suggestions would be helpful. Also one other question we too are staying at RPH, how far is that from Citywalk? Is noise from Citywalk going to be a problem at the hotel? We first booked HRH but then I changed my mind thinking that RPH would be quieter. Thanks for any help.

you don't hear any noise at the rpr from citywalk but the pools are loud with alot of families but not unbearable. we ate at margaritaville reasonable and great food, i think we waited about 1/2 hour for a seat not bad during easter break and also it was nice to sit outside and enjoy a drink, the 3 kids enjoyed it too.believe me as long as your onsite, no problem at all

The secrets for lunch time is to go early, and share a meal.
For example, Mythos opens at 11:30am. You get free soft bread/butter to start. Order a wrap of the day, $12.95. They won't mind you sharing, just say you want to leave room for desert. Then order the "Taste of Chocolate" and share that too. You'll be full, but not over stuffed. Total cost with tip will be about $25.
Scroll down this page to see a picture of the desert.

For dinner, same thing, go early at 4pm, have a happy hour drink, then order food. Don't wait until you are hungry to find the restaurant. Look at your watch and go. By the time you order, you'll be hungry.

If you visit the Hard Rock Cafe, order the appetizers, like the Jumbo Combo.

We were there 2 years ago and I don't ever remembering having to wait 20 mintutes at either park- probably waited longer for a show- but only beacuase they had just taken a group in. It's a blast and we loved it. We ate at NBA City one night and Margaritaville one night and The Kitchen-HRH-It took an hour and half to get table at M'ville-not as long at NBA-Kitchen takes ressies. We usually came back and ate by pool- lines seeemed long in park for food!!
