Hey Guys...checking in on a few things....trip 4/21-4/27. We were nervous about Easter Break crowds and had a great time...will do it again.
Spring Break over Easter was fine, crowds at the parks were not a big deal and there was a large drop starting on easter. We have gone many times and tried to hit the parks that would be the best for crowds that day. We have gone in Janaury and other times...I do not notice much difference in the crowds....except the resort pool. Toy Story Mania and Soarin were the main ones that were jammed, but only used fast passes for these.
EMH in the morning at Magic Kingdom - HUGE!!!!! We hit every ride in the park by 11am!!!! Then went back to our favorites in the afternoon. It was the day before Easter and the day after a 3am night, so maybe we hit a great day to hit Magic Kingdom.
This was our first time at Beach Club.
- overall great place...location incredible for obvious reasons between Epcot and HS. One time I called my in-laws that were going into the Canada show and I left my room and walked over and I beat them out of the show...literally 5-10 min walk at most.
- Pool was fantastic, it was one of my kids favorite parts. Good Friday and Saturday...could not get a chair...but Easter and the next four days ---EMPTY. THe activity college kids did a good job entertaining, and the pool is so large you could always find space somewhere to throw a football or other stuff.... There is no comparison anywhere else in DVC on pools.
-Quick service was painful a bit...Hurricane Hannahs was our choice in a bind...burgers and hot dogs. Food at Marketplace was pretty bad or bland.
- The resort has more "upscale" feel to it vs Wilderness Lodge, Old Key West, etc. Not bad, just different, more people getting dressed up for dinner on the boardwalk etc.... My mother prefers the "howdy" feel of Wilderness, but the CM's were nice and I felt at home at both places.
- Now that my kids are older....my only wish is that all of the DVC 2 Bedrooms had the "old Key West" size kitchen and living room. Entertaining or visiting inside is tight.
- LOVED the campfire and movie on the beach. There was nice breeze at night and having a couple of drinks while the kids played in the sand or goofed around before the movie was relaxing and a nice treat.
WEGOSHOP...first time using this service. We were extremely pleased. They do a great job and delivered the food to the room. Service fee is very reasonable, your decision on the tip.
Scooters...no flames please. I used to be on the fence on this issue. But my Mother in law has bad arthritis in her back and knees. Usually she walks and only goes to the parks 50% of the week. She tried a scooter for the first time and was able to go to the parks everyday and have a good time without hurting herself. The bus change overs were not too bad and I did not see anyone giver her a hard time. So my new bias...if it helps you be comfortable and have a great vacations...go for it and do not worry.
Easter Mass at the Contempory was nice. Mary Queen of the Universe did a great job hosting a Mass there. Music and service was very respectful and I did not feel that I "short changed" Easter by being on vacation.
Water Mice (Sea Rays)...we tried this for the first time at Polynesian...My kids and I loved it, it was one of my kids favorite part of the week. I drove on, 15 yr old, and 12 yr old....three boats for 40 minutes and with DVC discount just over $100, not bad and a blast.
We were VERY nervous about going around Easter...but it was fine and hope to see ya next year....hope the Earlier date does not increase the crowds!!!!!
