I am not a first time cruiser - DW and I went on the Wonder in Oct 99, but I had some questions re: Fish Extenders, because I didn't do it the first time (I actually don't recall anything like it happening on our cruise).
I have done a bunch of reading about the whole FishExtender stuff and it sounds like fun. But before I signed up to participate, I had a couple questions I couldn't really find answers to.
1) What do people give - just so I can get an idea of what to do myself.
2) How many people participate?
3) DW is security conscious regarding DD8, do many people leave names off of their FE's?
I haven't yet decided if I am going to participate in this FE group yet. Have a cruise this weekend to get out of the way, then I'll start planning on the Spring Break cruise.
But I have particpated in other FE groups, so I can answer your questions.
Past gifts I have either given or received have included stickers, pens, pencils, lanyards, candy, magnets, postcards, survival kits (bandaids, highlighter, safety pins, chapstick, etc), mini Lysol spray, mini wrinkle release spray, picture frames, leis, mini tote bag, rubber ducky, bubbles, beach ball. Really just get creative with it, its more about the fun of coming back to your room and finding a treat, than what the actual item is. At least for my family that's the way it is.
How many participate really depends on who wants to. I've been on cruises where we had upwards of 150 cabins, and I've also been on some where the average was about 25. Sometimes the larger groups will break up the FE participants into smaller groups so you don't have to bring so many items. All depends on what the cruise thread decides.
You can decorate your FE however you want, with a family name, a DIS name, first names, no names, totally up to you. No one says you have to give us your names, although some people do make homemade, customized gifts and like to put your name on them. You can either respectfully decline the gift, or exchange names via private message so you child's name isn't out there for the world to see.
