I'm curious - I've noticed that in the past month or so the rent/trade boards have been "lit up" with renters looking for reservations over the holidays. Every time I read one I'm thinking, "These people are just now trying to book for Christmas?!" And by most DVCers accounts there is absolutely nothing available - one night here and there, mostly.

My question is: Will things heat up again after the new year for Spring Break? We may have to rent out some points, and are wondering if we might be better off waiting until such a time.

Thoughts?

Guessing by Spring Break you are referring Passover / Easter break ? ( not college spring break ) Then it's less than 7 month window until Easter/Passover so all points are equal now ( window for Home Resort booking advantage has passed ). Very popular time; I wouldn't delay, just my opinion. See what others weigh in with on this.

I was thinking more along the lines of: When will reservations for the weeks around Easter become a hot commodity? To where we might have the easiest time renting points for those weeks?

Are you going to spec a reservation? Meaning make a reservation for a hot time and then try to rent it out? Tsk, tsk.

If you want to make a reservation for a non-member, just check the R/T board to see who wants a reservation and make them an offer. Or post your points for rent at your requested price-FIRM.

Hmmm - never heard of "spec"ing a reservation. Judging by Deb & Bill's post, this is a no-no?

We were actually just wondering when people might be asking to rent spring break reservations. There isn't really anyone asking for them on the rent/trade boards right now. We didn't want to post a "Points for Rent" thread that sits for a long time. We thought maybe after the new year those requests might heat up - and were wondering if any of the veterans out there had a better grasp on the timing of it all.

I am a renter going to WDW 3/22-3/27 for our spring break. I rented my points at about the 11 month window to make sure we got what we wanted. I would think
most renters would have come forward by now, and if not pretty soon. JMHO.

Best wishes!

It is permitted, but frowned up by owners. To book a prime time, not allowing an owner to book that stay if they wanted to, just to sell it to a non-member? Not quite kosher. Rather greedy.

The DIS won't let you post a reservation for rent until 30 days out so that they don't appear to support these greedy types.
