We're going from Chicago to ORD, and I was wondering if anyone knew what a good fair was.... or if it's too early to buy.

I see one fair for around $250, which is about $50 more than I usually pay, but I've never tried to go at Spring break.

Should I grab it. It is direct, but very late at night, so will have to get a day room for daughter to nap.

Opinions, please.

I don't know if I would be better off to get it now, or wait, because I'm doing this too far out, and the lower stuff hasn't come out yet....

FYI - I have all these FF miles, that are basically unusable, because they will only give me connections, even when I called at the 1 year out mark. And with delays etc, I refuse to play this game with a small child. It's direct connect or bust!

Hi goldilocks, we've traveled that same week for many years and have found that the prices only go up. Since our whole county has that week off and some of the northern suburbs too I think, it sometimes feels like half of the suburbs are heading to WDW.

Have you considered SW? You can watch this forum or sign up with the airline. Their fares for March won't be out for some months. When they first come out, you should be able to get a decent fare AND a decent time.

BTW I don't think $250 is a bad fare for spring break for a major airline. But I know I wouldn't want that really late flight if I could avoid it.

Our youngest just graduated from HS so we won't be "doing" that week for the first time in who knows how many years. It will be interesting to see if our town feels like a ghosttown!

Good luck.

Hi Lucy,
what are your dates? i know it might be for everone one, but this last easter about three months out we got 4 airfares for a total of $674 out of indy. for us it was a 2 hour drive. your more west then me. what a great airport, curb side check in, very clean, i didnt think it was crowed and food places, lots of them.
parking was great dh dropped us of he parked the car in the lot very close walking distance, they do have shuttles and we had no problem when we returned getting the carand luggage.

the drive for us is only 1 more hour then flying out of mdw. you could always try chicago/gary airport.

if i cant get great airfares for mdw/ord then i will try ind, especially if your flying in the morning then you might want to go the night before.

Grab the fare. They only go up for spring break. I made the mistake two years ago when we had booked a Disney cruise on points. I thought it would go down to around $200. It went up and the cheapest that I could get was right around $320. I looked at the fares for this year in Nov. when we decided to go and they were all close to $400. We drove down instead. You might take the chance with SW but if they don't have anything cheaper, you'll really be stuck. Good luck.
