Our spring break next school year is March 14-19th, which is over 3 weeks before Easter. Our break has always been the last week of March in the past.
I would never dream of travelling during spring break before, but since the week is so much earlier next year, we thought we might give it a try.

Does anyone know how this week will be as far as crowds and how hard it will be to get a ressie? Our home resort is VWL, but we are planning on bringing some friends with us, and it would be too many points to stay there. We would have to wait 'till 7 months out for a ressie at OKW of SSR (our other favorites). Do you think our chances would be good or bad to wait 'till 7months out?

Thanks a bunch!

with Easter being later, your chances are good. Many East Coast schools will have Spring break in April in 2009, either b/c they follow Easter, or they have set April Spring breaks. Plus OKW and SSR are large resorts. Also, DVC does not consider MArch 2009 to be "peak"--just the week prior and after Easter. I would assume their peaks are based upon historical demands.

Wow are you lucky! Our spring break is always at Easter and the points are expensive! We used to have the last week in March and Easter was only once every three years. We had to add on more points just to have enough for Easter. Our home resort is VWL and if you are worried about getting what you want, you can book your reservation 11 months out, one day at a time. You can explain to MS that you want to make sure you get what you want. I did that last year for Easter with VWL. Then at the 7 month window I switched to different resorts so we could try them all! It was a fun vacation and I really learned which resorts I wanted to stay at again. But moving the luggage was a hassle! Hope you enjoy your next vacation!! :cheer2:

This is spring break for Shelby County, AL (which is a very large Birmingham suburb) as well. We are going the same week, booking a 2 Bdr at SSR, but will possibly switch at 7 months to OKW to save points...

Just an FYI, I am in Orange County NY and our spring break in 2009 is around the Easter holiday. Take a look at this link of a thread I started with 2009 school break info. Others are posting their dates so it could help your planning.

Spring break weeks (mid February thru the end of April) are generally all pretty busy in the parks. The two weeks surrounding Easter are the busiest, followed by President's Week. The week of Passover is usually somewhere between the Holiday weeks and the "generic" spring break weeks.

I can't imagine you will have trouble getting into either OKW or SSR at the 7 month mark.

University of Cincinnati's is the week after yours.

That week will be crowded. If you have been Easter before, crowds will be significantly lower but still very busy (it is the biggest spring break week for colleges nationwide). Decent chance of something at OKW or SSR 7 months out if you do it right at 7 months out.

Just verify that those dates are correct and not a typo. We had a tripped planned and then had to cancel because the dates off from school were wrong by a week.

Also, it will be busy, but not as busy as the weeks before and after Easter.
