Spring 2011 Professional Internships

Thanks for the information! I am hoping to apply for a Guest relations PI...:D I hope my information desk training helps me out!

Thanks, SneekyPeeks and Berlioz70! That's really good information. I had no idea what to expect. Seems it's a lot harder to get in than I had originally anticipated. Someone told me that if you do the College Program, you're almost guaranteed an "in" sometime in the future with an internship or job... looks like that's not necessarily true. I won't give up though!

Thanks for the information. I wasn't sure what to expect once you had applied. It's going to be tough I'm terrible at waiting.:)

Out of over 500 applicants for every management internship role, around 10-14 were chosen. Again, this was for each management role, but its still pretty steep competition. Being a CP helps, but it doesn't guarantee you a spot. I know some interns here with me this semester who have never been to Disney.

And I am 29, age isn't really a hindrance at Disney for anything, so no need to stress about it. :goodvibes

I'm planning on applying for College Recruiting, College & International Program Operations - Event Planning, Training & Development and Food & Beverage Management.

Do they ask for your transcripts and recommendations? I need to start pulling together my recommendations soon!

The two I applied for didn't ask for recommendations or transcripts, however I know one of the Plant Sciences ones does need letters!

Hello All!

I'm a former Disney Management Intern (Front Office, Coronado Springs). I met one of my best friends when I posted on this board seeking a roommate during internships. Well she has the nerve to go off and get married, so I'm seeking a new roommate. I own a condo in Hunter's Creek which is a quick 15 min drive away from Disney. It's a great area of town and a really nice place. I rent a fully furnished room with use to the rest of my fully furnished/decorated condo which is way nicer than any housing Disney will set you up with and very affordable (I look at this as my way to giving back to Disney for starting me on my career...I have since left the company but have a great position thanks to my experience there). I do have one very hyper dog so you must be tolerant (and probably a bit more than that) of dogs, but he's very loveable. I'd be happy to provide you with more details if you're interested. Females only.

Either way, best of luck! And if I can offer any help or guidance with your Disney internship, please let me know.

I too have applied for a couple of the PIs available right now. Management in Retail and Entertainment, as well as Entertainment Stratey and Standards (anyone know any more about that than the role description? It looks very interesting.).

In response to a previous post, how could someone applying for a Entertainment Management PI have leadership experience in Entertainment? It seems like this would be a very rare occurance being that you have to be in school or a CP to apply for a PI.

Let the waiting game begin.

I just finished the application process and having my phone interview Sunday. I applied for guest relations and human resources PIs. Good luck to everyone!

I sent in all my applications yesterday as well. I ended up applying for 5 - all of which I'd be very happy with: Food and Beverage Management, College Recruiting, College Program Event Planning, College Program Housing, and Training & Development.

I've got my interview Monday morning and I'm crazy nervous already. Good luck to everyone!

Yep, I was 44 when I did the CP then a Management Internship, so age is not a problem. ;)

It really is a lot of waiting and stress, but that can serve as a valuable character training tool in "patience". Believe me, I am one of the most patient people in the world, mostly due to Disney Casting! :lmao:

For those who do get in, a word of advice: don't take it for granted and SHINE! Age is irrelevant. I don't like to hear interns using their age as an excuse. YOU were chosen for that role because you were in the top 10% of the folks who applied at the 2nd most desired company to work for in the United States. That's not something to sneeze at! YOU bring value or they wouldn't have hired you, so rise to the occasion and be memorable for making magic. Okay, that was several words of advice, but pixies all around to everyone who is applying!

Congrats to those who have already gotton calls. I applied for four positions on Friday so I'm keeping my fingers crossed I'll hear back soon. I can already tell the waiting process will trying. :goodvibes
