spring 2009

I was told that they go from your fax application. they just need your paper one for the file. but it looks like disney is givin everyone a different answer. And yes someone did get a letter

Someone is calling Disney AGAIN tomorrow to see what on earth is going over there. Some people are being told 2-3 weeks from interview, 2-3 weeks from fax, 2-3 weeks from original, and someone was told this afternoon that NOTHING would be mailed out for at least 2 additional weeks?!? Yet someone on the facebook group claims they got an acceptance letter?!?

I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO confused.

I guess i'll get it when i get it but someone is planning on calling tomorrow morning and reporting back to the facebook group to see what exactly is going on. it doesn't make any sense.

Alright everyone, I know this whole situation is confusing but try to remain calm! We'll all get our letters in due time. There's no way to say when for sure because apparently even Disney doesn't know what's going on.

Argh! Major frustration. I left a message for my Disney contact/recruiter-type person while she was out of town for a conference, checking to make sure they had my paperwork. I got an e-mail back today saying that they'd received my fax but not my paper application, yet. And apparently they're going from the date of your paper application (which is stupid, 'cause let's be honest--it's exactly the same!), because she said it would be another two-three weeks before I heard!

This wouldn't be such a big deal, except I have a meeting with my adviser on Monday and he's going to want a solid reason for my plan to take a leave of absence next semester. Not "well, I might be doing this thing at Disney World." I mean, that doesn't sound particularly reassuring, even to me. I know that it's highly likely I'll get in with how well my interview went (on the very first day of interviews, too!) and my guest service experience. It's just frustrating that I can't give anyone concrete answers.

Anyway, the point is that everyone should know that they're going from the day they get your paper application as two-three weeks. Not from the interview, like I was told.

Does anyone think it'll hurt me in getting the job I want if it took them so long to get my paper application? I want either hospitality or attractions.

It's still early, so I doubt your chances at getting wither of those will be hurt--if they were still considering you for those positions, so don't worry :)

As for your adviser meeting, I'm not sure it's much of a problem. If you don't get accepted, would you still want the semester off? I doubt it... So, just make it clear that you have interviewed and are waiting on your acceptance letter which should arrive by the end of the month.

In the meantime, you can always work on a schedule for next semester just in case, but I doubt you will need it...

Also, when did you mail the app? It seems that it should have arrived by now...unless you mailed it really late.

I've been informed by my recruiter that it is 2-3 weeks from the date of your interview. Keep in mind this is not one of the general interns, she is a recruiter that travels to schools and makes sure I do my job :cool1:

She does note that it is an estimate and can change if there are issues during the application process with background or anything like that. I know this isn't really helpful because there is a lot of info going around, but we can add one more to the "2-3 weeks from interview" column:woohoo: :woohoo:

That means my letter should come this week (HOPEFULLY TODAY OMG) woo! So exciting!

Someone is reporting in the Facebook group that a letter has been received!!

I really hope I get my letter soon. Target is having major clearances on their dorm stuff, and if I get accepted to CP, then I want to buy some of it for my apartment.

Which Facebook group is this?

Hey guys scratch that whole "letters have been sent out" thing. Just called and they wont be out for a few weeks.

yeah im pretty sure i'm sticking with my "i'll get it when i get it" theory. :rotfl2:

I'll expect to get it in november (way later than i should regardless which 2-3 weeks it actually is) and when i get it before then, I'll just be pleasantly surprised!!!!!!!!!!

:goodvibes

So wait whoever posted on the Facebook group was lying? I'm so confused.

I AM the one who posted it on the facebook group. I had received a text message from someone else in the group saying they got it so i relayed the message to the group. Now I cannot say this person did not get the letter since I am not them but I did call recruiting this morning and they said no letters have been sent out yet and letters would not be sent out for a few weeks since they are still interviewing the first batch of applicants.

personally I'd put more trust in your friend sending a txt that he/she received the letter than I would in the Disney person. My recruiter did not indicate any kind of delay to me.

Ah I see! Darn I got really excited lol.

I talked to a recruiter yesterday, and she said that as far as she knows there is no delay in getting the letters out. and that we just need to hold on tight. She said to expect the typical 2-3 week range. and she said that this was from the time they conducted the interview, not when they recieved the application.

This means I should be hearing back within the next week or so. :)

I know this is hard waiting for everyone. I just want to say that I dont think we can be absolutely certain when and what has or hasnt gone out. Recruiting isnt always the most reliable. Everytime I called them they gave me a different answer. One time the girl placed me on hold, forgot that she did and perceed to have a conversation with a fellow recruiter and then hung up on me. I had to call back again and each time I recieved a different answer. I would assume that something has to happen soon. I know that personally for me three weeks is this coming monday. If i dont hear anything by the end of next week I am calling Disney since they should get moving. Last time it took a little over two weeks. We all just need to be patient and hang in there.

Yeah, I'm doing the same if I don't hear anything by next week.

I'm soooo glad I'm not waiting on this, myself! I'm stressed out enough waiting along with all of you... Here's to a 'speedy delivery'! :goodvibes

As the poster above me mentioned, I'm so gald im not waiting all by myself either! My friends and family just don't get it. lol... I vent to my best friend about this waiting process and she's just like "yeah sounds sucky, but whatever."... she's not a disney fan like I am so she just doesn't understand:)

Anyway, i'm hoping that the recruters that have said "no delays" type of responses are the right ones. lol My 3 week mark is on monday, too and i HOPE i get it then:)
