Hey everybody..I am working on a slideshow for our local high school basketball team and need some background music suggestions.

I would prefer no lyrics, but will also consider all songs even with lyrics.

Thanks for your help!

My sons enjoy making slideshows of their sports pictures and some songs they have used are 'Remember the Name' Fort Minor, 'The Second Coming' Juelz Santana, 'Let it Rock' Kevin Rudolph and 'Heart of a Champion' Nelly. You can get instrumentals of some of these. Another is 'If You Want Blood' AC/DC but probably more suited for football.

Some of these they picked up from the pregame music played at the high school games.

Check out Joe Satriani. He has some great upbeat rock instrumentals. His "Surfing with the Alien" album was incredible. You might also check out his protege Steve Vai.

I remember the classic non-lyric basketball song being Rock and Roll Part 2 by Gary Glitter. It may have dropped off in popularity after he was convicted of downloading illegal photos of children in Britain in 1999, or when he was deported from Cambodia for suspect child abuse in 2002, or when Vietnam convicted him of child abuse in 2005.

Im not sure how well it would work for baskeball but the theme song from the TV show Dallas made AWESOME background music for a slideshow I made for our track team when I was in High School.

Good luck!

Thanks guys...that definitely helps!

I did plan on opening the show up with a few minutes of Reflections of Earth. I am betting that the guys will have no idea where that is from....

Since it doesn't seem that anyone is overly concerned with copyright violations, have a look at Autumn Thunder - 40 years of NFL films music.
A little dramatic sometimes but there are a few gems.

I've also seen AC/DC's Thunderstruck put to good use.

The DVD I made was not going to be sold...it was just for a banquet presentation.

I completely understand, and I'm certainly not a member of the copyright police, but as far as ASCAP, BMI, and the RIAA are concerned it doesn't make any difference. Whether you're downloading a song for your own use on your Ipod or copying a song from a CD for a banquet the law sees it the same.
Most serious photographers (myself included) are sensitive to copyright issues, and that's the only reason I mentioned it here.

All of that said, although I use royalty free music whenever I can, I've used unlicensed songs in similar situations myself.
Hypocritical, I know.

What about "We Are The Champions"? "We Will Rock You"?

The theme from Magnum P.I. might work...probably only the parents would recognize it :goodvibes

Or how about Edgar Winter's "Frankenstein"? No words in that one also; upbeat and good for action shots.

Or if its more of a mellow/nostalgic slideshow, try some Pat Metheny - perhaps "(Cross the) Heartland" from the American Garage album.

I have an ongoing list of music I plan to use for slides shows. Maybe some will fit what you are doing.

What about Sirius by the Alan parsons project. Wasn't this the music the Chicago Bulls used during pregame introductions back in the day.
