Sports: Deflate-Gate

It really sounds like they took all of that time and effort to say Toss a Coin.

What I find more offensive & disgusting is that Goodell makes 35 million & the NFL is considered a non-profit organization

It is also my view that its opinions based on a lack of evidence.

That's the thing, the report and all the comments are only opinions of each person based on..... assumptions
Circumstantial evidence is evidence.

What was McNally doing in the bathroom? Why did he not use the one in the the locker room he was in? Why did he lie about it at first?

During that interview, McNally did not mention that he had taken the game balls into the bathroom. Instead, he stated that he walked directly to the field and that nothing unusual occurred during the walk from the locker room to the field. In subsequent interviews, McNally provided varying explanations for the bathroom stop and his decision not to utilize readily available bathroom facilities in the Officials Locker Room and adjacent Chain Gang Locker Room.
People get convicted on circumstantial evidence all the time. And 'reasonable doubt' does not equal 'all possible doubt'. Given that the balls were undeniably deflated between the time the refs inspected them and halftime, and the person in change of those balls took those balls to a private room, locked himself in that room, spent nearly two minutes with them, and then took them to the field in an unusual manner, is there another *reasonable* explanation, other than he deflated them to make them the way Tom liked them?

Sounds like any good covered up conspiracy. ;)

If it makes you feel better to believe that everybody else is jealous, go for it. I can guarantee you, there is not a jealous bone in my body. In the long run, it is just a game, has no effect on me or my life, so it is rather difficult to be jealous of a mere game. But it is rather funny and pretty presumptuous to declare you just know I am jealous and that everybody is jealous.

Actually, I feel sorry for the Pats. They are a talented team. They have a great HOF QB. Yet, they keep on making questionable moves that then puts their wins in question. With all their asterisks, their legacy will be greatly tarnished in the future.

Let me give you a hint. Many people just like to poke fun at the Pats because of the inordinate amount of apologists amongst their fans. The over-the-top fan reaction is what fuels the "hate," not jealousy.

Please tell me you don't believe your post, because it's absolutely ridiculous. If it was the Jacksonville Jaguars doing this you wouldn't care because they are constant losers. You only care that it's the Patriots because they win. So spin it anyway you want, but we both know the truth.

Seahawks fan here -I fully expect to be run out on a rail for that ;) lol- and I'm dismayed about several things that happened last season. Deflate-Gate...so many opinions on this, but I've Pats fans as friends, and we all agreed to stay civil. :hyper2: For the Seahawks I'm still sad for the last few seconds of Super Bowl, but even more so for the unsportsmanlike conduct when that punch was thrown. :sad2: My hope is this football season we see an increase in good sportsmanship and integrity both on and off the field.

Yes, but their winning (and cheating) is what's in question here, isn't it. We've had several well-documented cheating incidents, which puts all those wins under scrutiny. Are they winners because they cheat more than everybody else?

That's not a ridiculous question anymore. Is filming and deflating just the tip of the iceberg? Do they also know how to circumvent drug testing for performance enhancing drugs? Its clear that the team leaders (Belichick and Brady) are looking for whatever edge they can, bit it legal or illegal. That culture permeates throughout a team and organization...down to the level of a part-time locker room manager willfully deflating balls to rule breaking levels.

Have they been caught twice because their not as good at cheating as others (they appear to be an awesomely efficient machine in every other dimension) or are they just getting caught because they do it so much?

Your post is the perfect example of someone without a clue. Let me prove it. Please tell us how the Pats "cheated" from Spygate? Let's see how much you really know.

Glittercat, if the Seahawks win another Super Bowl or two the entire country will hate them. Even this last Super Bowl fans of other teams said they hated the Seahawks because of their cockiness. It comes with the territory of successful teams. I like your team and think they'll win it this year.

Whether they do win or not I want them to play good solid games and conduct themselves with honor. :D

Why were they fined by the league? Did they not break the rules?

Yes they broke the rule, but cheating means you have an advantage. Please tell me what advantage they had? Let's see how smart you are or if you're truly just a hater.

Thank you so much for correcting me on how I think and feel. You obviously know better than anybody how a complete stranger's mind works.

Thank you also for proving my point about over the top Pats apologists. You are way too invested in this team when you start calling people names, telling them they are wrong and how you know they really think, telling posters they are clueless and haters. And if they don't agree with you, they are not smart and are just haters. Right.

I honestly believe Brady reduced pressure in the balls -almost no question ..it's the way he prefers. He got caught and possibly will be penalized.

My question becomes -what punishment do we place on Rodgers? He has openly admitted that he has been cheating. Now what?

Given that the balls were undeniably deflated between the time the refs inspected them and halftime,
What was the PSI prior to the game? I guess I missed where they said that.
Why were they fined by the league? Did they not break the rules?
Yes, they filmed from the incorrect area.

It's not any more.

Actually, they agreed Brady did NOT deflate them. He "probably, in a general way" knew the other guy was doing it. :scratchin
