I was reviewing my cruise activities today and saw a new button for "On-board Activities." The only thing available are the 30 and 60 minute sport simulator sessions. I can't seem to find out much information, or any reviews on these. Anyone done these before? Would you do it again? Worth the extra money?

Thanks for the help!

My 11 year old son and I did the Sports simulator on the Fantasy. I assume they are the same. We did it for 30 minutes and that was plenty. There are numerous different sports games to play. You use the actual equipment (Football, baseball, soccer ball, hockey stick, etc.) to play the game. We had a blast.

There was also a golf simulator where you can use actual clubs to play golf. That looked cool but we didn't do it.

Both required reservations. The sports simulator didn't fill up as fast and is fun with kids. The golf fills up faster and is more adult-oriented (realistic vs games). Definitely a great thing to do on a sea day.

Great info! I have 3 kids - should I reserve an hour and have everyone play?

So the simulators are not per person? I see that the sports simulator for 30 minutes is $12 - doesn't seem to shabby if it meant that covered 2, 3, or more people. Doesn't look like a big space, but still a fun thing to do!

Gonna ask DH if he'd be interested in doing either the sports or the golf. Looks like it would indeed be a fun activity on our day at sea!

Thanks for the info, bzss7x!

I had emailed DCL asking if both of my sons could go during one 30 minute session and they said I had to reserve a session for each child - which I could not do on-line because it did not have the same time slot available for each. Though I recall on the Dream we only booked one session when on the cruise for multiple people. I would be curious to hear if people had experiences reserving one session for multiple people and if they were able to do that on-line.

Yeah, that was my problem. There seems to be only one simulator, and they go: hour on - 15 min. Break - 1/2 hour on - 15 minute break - repeat. So, if I had to book separate sessions for each kid, we'd be there for 2 1/2 - 3 hours! That's just crazy!

For us the 30 minute sessions were not available at a convenient times, so I reserved an hour. My plan is to share that time with the 4 family members.
I hope that will be acceptable on the Fantasy in Oct.

On another thread, a man using the gold simulator said he saw 8 kids in the sports simulator at one time, so I think we'll be fine!

That's good to hear. I will ask early on if my plan is acceptable. If not I will cancel and get refund if necessary.

We did the sports simulator (DH, myself and our 6 year old DS) on the Dream in August. We each took turns playing it and we just booked one 30 minute slot. It's a pretty decent size space...but it was BLAZING HOT. I think they are now air conditioned on the Fantasy...but you are zipped into this room with no a/c on the Dream. And well, in August...it was hot. Our DS had a lot of fun with it, but after about 20 minutes he was done. I think the heat played the major role in that.

Great info! I had no idea it would be hot!

Great info! Does anyone else have any recent experiences for the Dream Sports Simulators? We have 5 kids going with us between our families, and I'm guessing they'd like to split a session as well...is that still a possibility? Or would I have to book 5 different sessions (one for each child)?
TIA!!

There was nobody around at all when we did the sports simulator on the Dream. No one to regulate how many people went in. My son and I thought the simulator was pretty lame, actually. We wouldn't do it again.

We had to track down a life guard to open it up for my family.

It broke down halfway through, we had an hour scheduled, they refunded 30 minutes for us.

It was fun, but it was also vey hot in there. There seemed to be no a/c or airflow on Dream.

We did the sports simulator on the Dream in November. They had only one slot available for the 4 night cruise. I signed up my older son. When we arrived both of my sons, myself, and my dad were in the simulator for the whole time. We found it to be plenty of time. I would do it again.
