Spooks Series 5 Discussion Thread (Some Spoilerage)

With Torchwood not coming out for a couple of weeks, I thought I'd test my Discussion Thread skills by setting up a Spooks Dicussion Thread. Same principles as the Doctor Who Thread; just a general chat about Spooks..

By the way, if you haven't watched it yet (why?! ) it's on Mondays at 9.00PM (and 10.30PM if you BBC Three). I Would appriecate that you hide what you are going to say if you are going to talk about the new episodes on BBC Three It's not nice to spoil the show for those without it.. To hide it, highlight what you are going to say, select Color, and choose white.

Here's something to kick you off:

What do you think of Ruth's Departure? (End of Episode 5)

I am saddened by her departure; she was a favorite of mine in Spooks and it's going to be weird without her around anymore; what with her oddities and love of cats . And the sad thing is, Harry and Ruth never got to explore their spark..

I am more mad at Ros actually; I blame her for framing Ruth in the first place! I didn't like her before; she's too arrogant and sad for me to like; so I don't think she will be making any friends in my books anytime soon..

At least their is Jo to rely apon; ever since I saw her entrance in Series 4 a couple of weeks ago I liked her. I also think Zaf's cool; he's been kicking some butt lately don't you think? It's always fun to she him go crazy...

Dicussing stuff is going to be fun; I can tell from here!

I actually watched the programme thinking Ros was working for the other side and can't believe she is still there!

With Ruth gone, and what a surprise, that is 2 characters gone this series. At least she didn't have a gory death! I will miss her too. Should we be in for some new people to replace them?

So, Tom's going to be getting it together with the nanny - no surprise there then?

LOL - I see you call him Tom too I wish Tom was still in it (he was scrummy - Sorry Matt, I doubt you wanted to hear that on your discussion thread, but he was). Yes it looks like Adam's getting with the nanny, though I don't trust her or Ros.

It was a shame that Ruth has gone, though I was more surprised at that other guy (sorry can't remember his name) being killed off a few weeks ago.

That's Adam there, but otherwise correct. With the death of his wife I was wondering why he hadn't started sooner..

Also wondering why they haven't thought of replacements yet; at this rate they'll be no one left! And the philosophy with this show is that Anyone can go; so we have no idea if anyone's going to go next!

My guess is Malcolm could be another to go; with Ruth and Colin gone he's almost on his own now. Then again, Harry has been going on for a while now; I wonder when he will leave. I hope he doesn't go though; he's sorta needed on the show and I doubt they could think of a replacement for him...

I think the writers must have a huge wheel with people's faces on which only gets spun when they are going to get rid of someone...

Ps. While watching that episode, I remembered in Series 3 when Adam was introduced by going up to the group while they were in a huddle pretending to be a drunken idiot.. I thought that was so funny!

That's Colin; Mandy; I forgot his name earlier too!

Can't really say much on the Nanny; she does her job well and that's just about what I can say about her. Hardly the one to come in and talk about spying though, but perhaps she can replace Fiona with her Snogs...

I liked Tom; just a shame he left. I thought Vicki (Tom's ex-girlfriend) was hi-larious; espic. when she tried getting revenge! Absoluty hated his wife; she was SO dreery!

I'd watch it on BBC too except my brother keeps me; thinks it's better to watch it on the day...

Do we get too silly when we wonder if the nanny is a suspicious? I have wondered myself!

There was a short thread on the US community forum about Spooks. It is called MI5 over there and they are just at the point where Adam joined - the OP was missing Tom. I did say she would get to like Adam!

I've just recently got into this show in a big way. I'm watching the new series on BBC1 and the older series on Hallmark channel - Tues to Fri. It's a bit confusing watching both at the same time, as in the old ones Tom recently left and Adam arrived.

I'm hooked though, cool show! I must say I like both Tom and Adam, hard to decide between them.

The nanny - well it's Spooks so we are supposed to be suspicious of everything and everybody! I think there might be more than meets the eye in this situation. She's either a double agent spy type person who is a baddy, or she'll be used as emotional blackmail or something like that in a future episode.

I haven't seen it yet; just saying that we shouldn't make assumptions yet.. I hope she is just there for the kissing; I'd hate it if Adam gets hurt more ~ he's under so much stress now what with 2 people being shot now...

I do think that we shouldn't rule out the posssibilty; normally a kiss signifies something is going to happen in Spooks. Either that or Adam's getting desperate now...

I read up that we get to see 2 new characters tonight; one of which is going to work for the team now!

Whilst it's not Ruth, the idea of having new people is still nice. Just as long as it's not another Ros..

I didn't even think about them replacing Ruth, so I thinking about who they'll replace her with wasn't very high on my list..
