Spoodles - Boardwalk - DINNER ***** (5 Stars)
WOW...just WOW! So far, the BEST meal we have had....in presentation, taste of food, and friendliness of wait staff and Chef (yes, I said Chef).

The Chef came out and went around talking to people. He sat down at our table and got our son to eat more of his dinner! He chatted with us for a little while. He did the same with many others as well. I was VERY impressed with this.

Our Waitress was friendly and helpful as well and she got an extra special tip because of her fantastic service.

Myself: Shrimp Appetizer, Fettuchini with add-on Scallops (they let us do the add-ons with the meal plan with no additional charge), Excellent....the Shrimp was to die for...only 4 shrimp, but they were HUGE, and the Fettuchini/Scallops were fantastic. WAY too Much food, though...had to leave about 1/4 of my plate.

Wife: Shrimp Appetizer, Seafood Stew (Paella) - She LOVED it. She said that it was by far, her favorite meal of the week so far (and favorite dining out meal for at least the past year or so).

Kids: Mickey Mouse Mac and Cheese.....they both ate a good amount and liked it.

Desserts:

We wanted the Sampler to share with the family like we did at Italy, but they said that it wasn't included in the plan :(

We both ended up with the Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee......mmmmmm . LOVED it! I ended up pairing it up with the recommended Grand Manier

We were there for breakfast once several years ago. Did not like it at all and it had a weird smell. Looks like I may have to give it another shot after reading the two previous posts!

We were also there for breakfast. Had french toast and it had a different taste and didn't like it. But may try for dinner.

We ate there for breakfast twice last week (we stayed at the boardwalk). Service was terrible, very slow, very rude waiter. Food was ok but took so long to get (took 30 min to bring my dd cereal and milk). The restaurant is really pretty. We didn't have dinner there so I would hope that would be better. It always smelled good walking past it at night!

We just had dinner there last week. Honestly, I was looking forward to this restaurant the most because of the positive reviews I'd read on the board. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. Spoodles just didn't do it for us. I thought the food was "just OK"...the rigatoni I had was overcooked and dry. The mediterranean dips were ok, but the hummus was very bland. My shrimp appetizer was cold (now I'm wondering if it was supposed to be that way??) Our server was more interested in gabbing with another table of patrons about how he ended up at Disney than waiting on us.

It wasn't a "horrible" meal, but it wasn't at the top of our list either. I do believe in trying for oneself, though, so give it a try!

We've been to Spoodles dozens of times, and it is among our favorite. They're always so incredibly accommodating there, even though we've thrown some rather wild dietary requirements at them. The food is excellent, and a great value. Aim for the spicier food, that comes from the more western and southern parts of the Mediterranean, rather than the Italian food. You won't be disappointed.

Breakfast is great there too, especially the AYCE bagels cream cheese and lox!

I just bought a new guidebook today. It is a 2006 edition and it says that although they used to recommend Spoodles, they don't anymore because the food and service have gone downhill.

We used to love it, since we are DVC BW owners, but maybe we'll skip it in Jan. :guilty:

We went to Spoodles last April, 2004, we had a great experience.

Don't know about breakfast, doesn't sound like such a hot-spot for that.

But out dinner was fantastic. Highly recommend the salmon and the wood-fired pizza's. Ooh, and I wish I remember the name of it, I had a really good drink there. It was a martini but it tasted like lemonade! :drinking1

We went on September 20th and the service was fantastic. We had MUCH better service at Spoodles than at Alfredo's, Concourse Steakhouse and Coral Reef (Which was the WORST service EVER!)

Maybe we got lucky, but maybe service is just getting better after a brief lapse. I wouldn't write them off yet...definitely give it another shot.

Which guidebook did you use? I would love to find one that actually tells the good, bad, and ugly. The ones I have read are usually very sugar-coated.

We ate there for the first time in Feb. '05 and we loved it. My DH specifically requested that we make ADRs for Spoodles on our upcoming trip - he usually doesn't care, he lets me make all the dining plans. Everyone has their own tastes, but this was one of our favorites at WDW.

I think the unofficial guide is pretty good for not sugar coating things. The one problem with the dining portion is that they rely pretty heavily on reader comments, and I think most people are very positive after they return from WDW because it's such a great place to go, and that inflates some of the dining reviews just a little.

We went in October 2004 for dinner, and were excited about Spoodles because of all the raves. Maybe our expectations were too high, but we won't be going back.

Didn't Spoodles' chef move over to Citricos (or another MK resort) in 2004? I think that might have had something to do with it.

We have tried unsuccessfully to have a good experience at Spoodles--three times for dinner and once for lunch. Probably our least favorite WDW dining experience...

I don't remember if it was 2003 or 2004, by Mariann Hummel left Spoodles for a job in charge of dining at the Animal Kingdom, I believe.
