Spoodles

Thanks. I figured from looking at the Boardwalk it would be fun at night.

I also looked into the fantasmic dinner packages and really didn't see anything that sounded worth doing. With the limited menu options and cost...it just didn't seem like the best pick.. Besides I've heard a few negative things about the seating for the package at Fantasmic. I think I'd rather pick a dinning location based on what food is available to order rather than the ablity to have a seat at fantasmic. I'm not to worried about not getting a seat on my own. Of course I could be totaly wrong with this being our first time at MGM...maybe I don't have a clue as to what I'm getting us into. We also figured we could do one of the fun resturants at MGM during the day for lunch....I actually have ADR at Sci Fi around 1:20...and (I'm bad) 50s PT at 4:30. I know we won't be doing both...and I will be canceling one of those very SOON. I made the 50's PT one first when I was quickly trying to get ADR a week or so ago...but then read more about Sci-fi and compaired the menues...and started leaning towards Sci-fi. So I made a ADR there as well. I figured with having such a large group I'd see who whats to go where then call back and change the ADRs. Who knows maybe part of the group would prefer one over the other...this way I can just call and adjust the # of people on the ADR. After all we don't all have to eat together every meal. ;) Sorta went off topic...sorry.

Back to Spoodles....I did just read last night that the menu has CHANGED at Spoodles.... and now they don't have some of the picks that I was really wanting. :confused3 Over all...the flatbreads look YUMMY and I'm sure most of the group will LOVE those and find something else on the menu worth trying. ;)

If I were you, I'd stick with the 50's Prime Time ADR and scrap Spoodles, but that's just me. I could never eat dinner that late at night! Especially after being in the parks all day.

You could always head over to the BW after Fantasmic to catch the fun there, and maybe get a treat or dessert or something at the BW bakery /ice cream shop.

Good luck deciding!

Could you tell me where you heard this or what the changes were. We'll be going down later this month and have an ADR there. TIA.

I read it here somewhere as well. Someone posted the menu too...but I can't find the thread.

We like eating at Spoodles. At least once every trip.

I think it was another thread here on the DIS. I could be wrong though because last night I did go to intercot for the first time to read something that someone on here posted about something they read over there. Either way...they did have menues posted I believe...and from what I was gathering someone that worked there was involved with the thread and confirming the changes.

Here's the new Spoodles menu - they also have chef's specials in addition to the menu.

We've never been to the Boardwalk, so are heading over to Spoodles on our Epcot day. How long does it take to get to Spoodles from the Gateway? Walking vs. the boats? I assume if a boat is there, grab it...but if not start walking? If we take the boats, which stop do we get off for the fastest trip? We don't mind a bit of walking.

Question on Spoodles: The Dessert Sampler says "for two". If we are on the DDP can two of us share the Sampler and have it count against both our meals? In other words, instead of each of us getting a dessert as allowed on the plan, we would just get this one for both of us?

THe desserts look great! I don't know what I would pick!

Don't take my word for it...Cuz I'm learning myself...but from what I've seen/heard/read Epcot is even closer to the Boardwalk than MGM (which is what I'm wondering about)...and really is only a SHORT walk away. For the most part walking can be the fastest way to get many places....Spoodles from Epcot included. Of course I may TOTALLY wrong...and I'm sure someone here who actally knows will help out. :goodvibes

We stay at the Sw/olphin most of the time. Spoodles is indeed closer to Epcot - about a 8 minute walk to the International Gateway. Personally, I'd place the walk to MGM at more like a 12-15 minute walk. For either Park, walking is MUCH faster than taking the Friendship launches. If you do take the launch, you can always hop out at the first stop & then walk to BW. From MGM, Sw/olphin is the first stop & Spoodles is about 3 minutes walk from there.

IMHO, the eateries in MGM leave alot to be desired, foodwise. Atmosphere can't be beat, but we haven't been wowed by the food. We always leave MGM to eat.

Spoodles does a good job in their bustling restaurant. We always eat dinner there and have never had a bad meal. I would allow some time if you are planning on boating it from MGM, the boat is slow. I have walked it faster than the boat..

We have eaten at Spoodles dozens of times. Service is always good to excellent and the food is outstanding.

We always stay at BWV when we make our yearly trek down to Disney and we usually will walk to and from MGM. Walking is dh (37) myself (37), dd (10) and ds (6) he walks and also rides in stroller. It is usually about a 15 minute walk. When walking from MGM to Spoodles, I suggest that once you get to the "big" pool with the side at BWV, that you turn and cut through the pool area and go through the tunnel and this will put you in the courtyard area and Spoodles will be across the grass on the other side of Flying Fish. This would be quicker than walking to the end of the walk way and around Jellyrolls, which would tack on another 10 minutes to Spoodles.

I second the thought (PP) of taking the boat to Swan/Dolphin and then walk to the Boardwalk area from there. The age range of your group and at the end of night really doesn't sound like the walk from MGM to Boardwalk should be the way to go.

Do you always need ADRs for Spoodles? It sounds so good! We're staying at BWV and hope to eat there for lunch the first day we arrive. I'm not sure how much time to plan for Magical Express and pre-checkin, so I was hesitant to do ADR. Thanks for any help.

Spoodles is not open for lunch. Big River Grill at the BW is open for lunch.

Thanks for all the responce...It does sound like walking is the way to go. Either that or taking the Frindship boat to S&D getting off there...then walking the rest of the way. I'll have to remember the short cut around the pool area and through the tunnel ;) . Is it fairly easy to spot going that way?

scrapperjill - You will see signs on the paths leading you to the Boardwalk.

UhOh! I gues we'll just have to wing it and try the ESPN Club or something. We'll be travelling from early morning with no real breakfast, so we thought we could have a nice relaxing sit-down lunch followed by a swim while waiting for our room. Didn't really want fancy though, we'll be in our travelling clothes and probably still have our carry-ons with us. I suppose there must be other CS places there (we've never been to BWV or stayed in the park before!).
Thanks for the heads-up Stinky_Pete!:hippie:

You also have options right across the lake from the BW for lunch -- at the YC or BC. You have Beaches n Cream or Yacht Club Galley. You may also want to consider someplace in the Swan or Dolphin. For lunch you can eat at Fresh or Picabu Buffeteria at the Dolphin or in the Swan you can dine for lunch at Garden Grove Cafe.

Just thought you'd like to know some of your other options in that vicinity.

The Cabana Bar & Grill poolside at the Dolphin is a great spot for lunch. Fits your bill perfectly - casual, tasty & you are right out enjoying the gorgeous FL sun. IMHO, they have the Best Burger on property. Pair it with a Frozen concoction (alcoholic or not, they have both) & you have yourself a Cheeseburger in Paradise. Perfect way to kick off your trip.

Big River is far from "fancy." You would be very comfortable there in "traveling clothes." It is a brew-pub. Here is a link to the menu:

I'm not familiar with the other places mentioned.
