Spoodles

Wow! So Many dining choices even for lunch! Big River Grill does in fact look good; thanks Stinky_Pete. The Cabana Grill sounds wonderful also...Best burgers, eh? Thanks Leota. Appreciate all the other tips too CRSVDSNY. So many places to eat, and so few meals in a week!
I did make ADR for Spoodles one evening though!
CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!
18 Days to go til WDW:cool1: :dance3: :cool1: :dance3: :yay:

We're going to Spoodles at 5pm after MGM & are planning to either go back after dinner for Fantasmic or go to Epcot for Illuminations. I'm really disappointed in the new menu as we had planned to get the seafood stew & the steak. The appetizers & desserts look great & if I weren't on the dining plan I'd probably just get a few appetizers & skip the entree.

Anyone know about the kid's menu?

That sounds EXACTLY like what we had planned...Except we hadn't considered going to Epcot instead of MGM afterwards...but that's just because we are not getting hopper passes....so we won't have the option of going to a diffrent park:goodvibes Anyways after hearing about the dinner times and some other issues people have ran into with going to Spoodles then trying to make it back to the night time shows we've decided to do Spoodles after Fantasmic. I know it'll be late but I think it sounds worth it.

I was also looking forward to something they'd taken off the menu....but figured there were some other things that looked yummy.

The kids menus look good. Which is another reason we're picking Spoodles. For dinner they have...

Appetizers/starters
Fruit salad $2.99
Mixed Green Salad $2.99
Pepperoni Flatbread $5.99 (I'm sure my dd will LOVE this)

Entree
Grilled beef burgers $5.49
Grilled Chicken Breast $8.99
Grilled strip steak $10.99
Grilled cheese $5.49
Mickey Mac and Cheese $5.49
PB&J $5.49

Dessert
Chocolate Chip cookies and milk $2.79
Ice Cream Sunday $5.49

Drinks
Shakes $3.79

These are of course from the old menu....I haven't taken time to recheck what if anything has changed on the new menu. I actually didn't even think about it until just now.

We've never been to the Boardwalk, so are heading over to Spoodles on our Epcot day. How long does it take to get to Spoodles from the Gateway? Walking vs. the boats? I assume if a boat is there, grab it...but if not start walking? If we take the boats, which stop do we get off for the fastest trip? We don't mind a bit of walking.

Question on Spoodles: The Dessert Sampler says "for two". If we are on the DDP can two of us share the Sampler and have it count against both our meals? In other words, instead of each of us getting a dessert as allowed on the plan, we would just get this one for both of us?

THe desserts look great! I don't know what I would pick!

Actually you will want to bypass the boat even if it's there. Unless you just want a boat ride. We left at the same time as a boat and it had just made its first stop at the place across the lake when we got to the boardwalk.

Some people report being allowed the sampler; however, we were not.

I'll tell you what. I'm going to really miss the stew. The strip was excellent.
I really miss the add ons they used to let you get with the steak. The scallops were wonderful.

I could have made a meal out of the calamari. Could have made a meal out of the mediteranean dips. Now the lemon shrimp thing, Uh no. That was two shrimp. Delicious, but you couldn't make a meal out of it.

Menu's do change, Chef's come and go, it's life in the restaurant world. Tell ya what though.. Spoodles is one busy place as of late.

The Shrimp appetizer os more like 8 or 9 shrimp now, they are smaller, but more tender. The server said it was a slight increase in portion size even though the shrimp were smaller.

Hope this helps..

I actually wish menus would change more often. I'm sure it's hard to do with a company as large as Disney. My favorite restaurants to work in were always the ones serving Cuisine du Marche. Then you knew you were working with the best & freshest ingrediants. Besides, it's just a heck of a lot more fun to be able to be creative & to be a recipient of that creativity.
