My fiance and I are going to Disney World on Monday to celebrate our engagement. He has never been to DW, so the first day we are not going to any parks. Which restaurant should we go to for his first night? I have never been to any "real" restaurants at DW. Should we go to Spoodles, California Grill, or Fultons Crab House. We are not "in" to the character dining scene.
Thanks!

Depends.

CG is the most romantic, but you'll want to dress up a bit for taht one--there is a no tank tops/no cut offs dress policy, most people wear resort casual, and it's not unusual to see men in suits and ladies in cocktail dresses celebrating special occaisions. The food is great although our experience has been service has been hot and cold.

Fultons gets a lot of mixed reviews, we've always had great meals there, and very good service.

Spoodles is casual and comfortable with very good food, and good service.

Fultons and the CG are going to cost a LOT more than Spoodles.

I agree with everything Anne has just said.

I'd go with California Grill as it's a great restaurant with great views and certainly the most romantic of the three.

I love all three ;)

I've never been to Fulton's or California Grill, but Spoodles is one of my favorite restaurants at Disney.

That said, for your particular occasion, I say California Grill. It's the most romantic of the three, and more "grown up." I hear the food is pretty good, too. ;)

I'm voting for CG, too. Its the most Disney-esqe while still being grown up from your choice (i.e. you can see the castle all lit up).

Another possibility would be Narcoosee's. A little more Spoodles like in ambiance (i.e. more casual, and while still pricey, its a little cheaper), but still romantic you can walk on the beach at the GF and see the castle.

BTW, this Monday?! Call for PSs right now. CG in particular will be difficult to book at this late date (you can try for a walk in if it isn't available, but you may be waiting a while).

Flying Fish is our favorite. The menu is based on whatever is fresh that day. We were just there on 4/22. We had delicious crab cakes for appetizers, potato-wrapped snapper and applewood smoked scallops. I also had a spinach salad and desert was fantastic. The atmosphere is very nice and you can stroll the Boardwalk after dinner. Flying Fish is comparitively-priced with California Grill.

Have Fun! :D
