:p
She only rec'd 12 of the #12 pin!
She called her DM, thinking a box had been lost in shiipment. Her DM said she got what they intended. The CM mgr said it appears they just get whatever quantity. It maybe 12; it maybe 24; it maybe more.
:p
I was going to be there at opening anyway. But I need to make sure to be. She was even not happy. She says she knows of 12 collectors that come to her store and she won't be happy if she has to turn them away.
And she STILL has pins #2 - #8. I will get them at cost, if anyone wants 'em. The mgr is very disappointed she still has any! She says once Walt was gone, that was it. No interest.
And she will ship directly to anyone. But of course the shipping would be a lot $$$.

Here we go again....

I just spoke to the manager of my local store and she told me that the reason why the #7 pin sold out so quickly there was because they just got a box of that pin. The Walt lasted two days, they had plenty!
So, some stores are receiving very irregular numbers of boxes.

Well at least I just saw that #12 is the Rocketeer. I can't imagine THAT being a HOT item.
Did anyone see that movie? I guess I shouldn't say anything about it since I didn't.

Our store only had #1-8, that is all that should have been put out on Saturday. The next 8 are due out this Saturday!

She didn't have them for sale. We were just pin talkin' and that's what she mentioned.

I know the Columbia, MD store had 40 of each of the first week. I didn't think to ask about next week's -- even though I knew they already had the shipment in hand.

As to the Rocketeer's popularity -- I know one of my sons loves that movie and has one Rocketeer pin. Since there are very few pins from this movie, it may be one of those things that sells out because it will appear to non-pin traders who just happen to love this movie.

Well I do like the music from the Rocketeer. :) Don't see it as being anywhere near as popular as #1. I'll be happy if I get my one of each.

The Rocketeer was a great movie. At least I thought so and so did my DH and kids. We were probably the only ones. :D

What the heck is that? I am ashamed to say I've never heard of it!

The Rocketeer is a movie adaptation of a comic book with the same name. It's set in pre-WWII California, about a stunt man (I believe) who discovers a rocket pack and uses it to fight Nazi spies. It's actually a pretty decent comic book adaptation, thanks to the fact that the creator had an influence in production.

Billy Campbell played the Rocketeer. He's now the male lead on the TV show Once and Again with Sela Ward.

I liked the movie.

I loved the Rocketeer. And it came out when my boys were at an age where there was not much for them to see and enjoy so they really loved it to.
Now for the bad mom story.

I won four passes to the opening of this movie. My local radio station had a contest and I knew the Disney Trivia question. They had a big opening night thing at the movie theatre with all kinds of dumb gifts that we have since tossed out. Pins and stuff. Yes, I know..... if I only knew then what I know now.
anyway... My two younger boys were having a bad week. They broke every house rule and were just being typical boys. But being the single mother and having almighty power over them I had to show them who was boss. So I hired a sitter for them and took my oldest boy to the movie alone.
The guilt was so bad I never really enjoyed the movie that night, but David loved the attention he alone got.
We did get to see that movie together a few weeks later, and then of course a few times after that. And every time it was on the Disney Channel.
So I will make sure I get my Rocketeer pin.
Leslie, can you pick me up that pin, I have to work........... Peggie

To be completely honest, I had forgotten all about that movie. I'll have to try to remember to pick up the video.

I recalled something else the CM mgr told me. She said her DM specifically told her she can hold pins. However, she can only start holding them (via phone request) the Sunday after they go on sale. Which may not be of help.
