Disney spoils us... planning a trip there is the easiest thing in the world and then all you need to do is plan your days, which is what the Dis is for :thumbsup2

So... ummm... how do I plan a trip somewhere else? Yes, I know... WHY would I want to go somewhere else?! I'm beginning to ask myself that very question ;)

Is there a message board on trip planning to Boston?

Ha! I'm in the same boat as you are. My MIL is trying to get the whole family to start planning a trip or cruise together and all I can think is that it will cut into my Disney time that year!

We are going to Washington DC in a month, wedding out in Annapolis. Staying in DC for 5 days to see the sites. We know for sure we are seeing Snoopy (Judi) one day and that's about it so far. :confused3

Ironically, I think you're on it. :rotfl:

Since I am from the Boston area, I have happened to notice a lot of people come to the CB for advice on traveling to Boston. I'll bet if you used the search function you would find a lot of good material. Do you have particular questions / interests? What time of year will you be here?

I'll be there in October. My main concern is really getting to/from the airport and to/from a subway station. Hotels in Boston are EXPENSIVE!

I'm just so used to booking a Disney trip, having the ME pick me up at the airport, deliver my bags and then using the buses to get around. This is a whole new experience. I do NOT want to rent a car (especially since I wouldn't really use it anyway). Seems to be very similar to DC in that regard.

I'm okay with a subway, it's just making sure my hotel has easy access.

You can pick up some good tips on Trip Advisor. I'd Google for things I was interested in and check out some blogs and local message boards.

Some years back, I suggested to the webmasters here that we have a subforum to talk about travel to places other than central Florida. I've seen and taken some very good suggestions for travel on the CB. Obviously, there is value in asking the locals where to find the best places to stay, eat and play. It'd be nice to have threads asking about specific vacation destinations in one subforum as it would be easier to search.

You may find this link useful. It contains information on getting to and from the airport. http://www.massport.com/logan/default.aspx

I actually had a blast planning for Philadelphia when we visited there last year. It's not that hard, you just won't have such huge forums.

Just about every major city has their own online forum with alot of helpful tips and hints.

Planning my trip to San Diego was alot of fun. Made some new friends on the board I found for that area. And got a lot of tips from the locals of things to do that I didn't even know about.

The same way you plan a trip to Disney. As for the why, as much as I love and adore Disney, I gotta tell you there is an entire big world, heck there are some awesome places in this country that are just as fabulous as the world.

Anyway,
Start with a google search and tripadvisors.com you'll get tons of information.

Happy trails.

There are message boards for hundreds of destinations. I recommend looking at the forums on TripAdvisor, Frommers, and Lonely Planet. You should also do a Goodle search for stand alone message boards pertaining to Boston, Massachusetts, and New England.

I love to plan trips and message boards add to the fun. I'm currently planning a trip to Greece and making alternative plans for Guatemala in case the instability in Greece continues or the euro/dollar exchange rate makes the trip prohibitively expensive.
