Splitting your stay.. OPINIONS pls!

If you were going for 6 nights.. would you concider splitting your stay between AKL and WL? Or would you just stay at one, which one??

Well for 6 nights I might just stay put. I have only switched once and it was from the Poly to AKL and it went off without a hitch. We did 4 nites at each. As to which resort it really is a matter of preferance. It appears by your signature that you already stayed at WL, so maybe you should try AKL. It is one of my favorites. But I also like WL. I'm no help, sorry.

I always split my stays now as I enjoy changing the environments of my home base. The least amount amount of time that I stay at one place is 3 days. Any shorter and you don't get a really good feel and time to relax unless you are not planning on going to the parks. I usually plan on switching hotels on a day I am not going to the parks. I have a car and move the luggage myself. Both places are wonderful to stay at so either way you choose will be fine.

DH & I will be doing the same in just three weeks!We will be staying at WL for 4 nights and AKL for 3 nights! We have split our stays for the past two years and this will make the third time. We always drive down so it is no problem to move from one resort to another. As the previous poster said, we feel like we get to experience so much more by splitting or stay. I will also add that DH & I are empty nesters now, and I don't think we would have tried this when we had children in tow.

Just got back from 13 days in the world - jet lagged trying to relax & sleep. we stayed at 4 resorts. I didn't plan it that way it just evolved. Originally the plan was 5 nites Poly concierge 4 nites AKL concierge, then we bought DVC and decided to go to MNSSHP so we started at OKW for 2 nites and then VWL for 2 nites. We have 3 kid under 3 so I would not recommend splitting if you have small children who require naps because chances are very good your room will not be ready till 3pm or later. But if your kid free or your kids are older I say go for it Disney will transfer your luggage for you and you'll be able to sample the delights of another resort. I don't regret what we did, we enjoyed each resort and loved experiencing their different feels. I just wouldn't move so much and not when the kids are young ( even with a car & moving our own luggage we lost almost a day with each move.)

Usualy we drive to Orlando the night before our vacation starts and we first stayed off-property on 192 then one year we checked in and the Motel they told us there would be a $20.00 charge to place a telephone in our room?? I told them "NO THANK YOU" next trip I started booking one night at AllStars. Then we would be on Disney property early, no traffic and we could drive to WL check-in and head to the Parks for EMH, I became OK with the moving from one resort to the other. Last trip I booked us at WL for first part of trip then moved to BWV we loved it felt like we had two vacations. While at the Lodge we did MK, AK, and Ft Wilderness, when we moved to BWV we had MGM, EPCOT, & DTD . So YEP go for it we loved staying at two Resorts same trip.

In March we split AKL/WL four/four. I think three/three would be fine. I love the AKL but it's a bit far out to spend the entire time there. And the WL is terrific for the MK. Just have them transfer your luggage, head to the park nearest your new resort then pop over to check in later in the day.

Last time they said that our old resort could give us our room assignment at our new resort but this didn't seem to be the case when put into practice.

One July my husband had a business trip in Melbourne, FL and the boys and I were supposed to go with him then stop for two nights at the Contemporary.
At the last minute he suggested it would be more fun for me and the boys if he just dropped us at Disney on the way so we pieced together a last-minute trip that consisited of two nights at Posrt Orleans, two at the Poly, then finally the Contemporary.
It was probably the best Disney trip ever. I liked moving around though it would have been much easier with a car as it took a long time to get our bags the afternoon we checked into the Poly. I like to move around.

If you can deal with the packing / unpacking I'd consider switching. Two very different (and excellent) places so it'd be nice to enjoy them both. We split our stay last year for the first time between BCV and OKW and it was great. We'll probably switch this year too.

I would definately split my stay, we have done it in the past and are planning on doing it again. It's like 2 mini vacations in one.

Before my last trip I would have probably not advised it, however, we just got back and we had to stay at ASMu for one night (our flight was cheaper this way, and we were getting in late and CSR didn't have anything for us) then we went over to CSR for 7 nights then on to CR for the last 3 nights. There was absolutely no problem whatsoever transferring luggage or checking in or out, it really was a breeze. I would say go for it!

For 6 nights, I'd pick one resort. All that packing and unpacking for 3 nights per resort is wasted time that I could be in the parks! (That's just me!)

We're going out next month and are splitting our 13 night stay between CBR & WL. But last year we stayed at POFQ for 6 nights, and I couldn't imagine trying to split those 6 nights with another resort!

We usually have a split stay, but I would think twice about splitting between AKL and WL. These resorts are very similar in a number of ways, in fact they were designed by the same architect. Just stay at one for the 6 days, and next trip try the other!

While the AKL and WL have similar architectural styles their theming is totally different and thus not to be confused. We split in March and they felt completely different. It's really only the artium style lobby that's similar and they are layed out differently as per the check-in windows and restaurants. And, splitting is a matter of location as well and in this way you cover both ends of the property. Splitting gives you a good chance to experience different resorts. If you discover that you prefer one over the other, than next time your decision will be easier.

I would never split a 6 day stay.

(1) I hate the whole packing and unpacking thing.

(2) You are likely to lose a lot of a park day packing, checking out, moving to the other resort and then checking in. Most folks do all this in the morning and that's the best time to be at a park.

(3) Your room may not even be ready until 4:00 pm. You may be "homeless" for most of the day!

Just pick one resort and enjoy!

Splitting: We packed our luggage at WL. Bell services came to the room and took it. We bussed to AK and spent time there. Then we headed over to AKL and checked in. We went to our room and a bell hop came with our luggage. Simple. It may be different with a car or if you have tons of luggage to pack.

We split between 3 hotels in August (royal pacific 3 nights, polynesian 4 nights, animal kingdom lodge 2 nights) and all changes went off just fine. I loved the fact that you would be closer to certain parks at certain times - good for planning!

One thing I would reccommend is to bring 2 bags- that way you can just throw all your dirty laundry in the one bag and not have to continually separate it from the clean stuff everytime you change hotels. That was one thing I wish I had done.

I say go for it. It will give you the convenience of the MK from the WL and the serenty of AKL. That will be like you have 2 vacations rolled into one!

Hi I have always split my stay .. see my signature !! I don't mind the packing unpacking thing as we only bring the bare essentials.. I do laundry while we are there .. I would say go for it .. The reason I do it is I want to try all the hotels so i can decide which is my FAVE .. ( sometimes its money too.. ) my next trip is going to be Pop for 3 nights BCV for 4 nights and CS for 2 night .
