Splitting up a group...FP+ question

I think I know the answer, but thought I would ask the collective.
In a few weeks, a group of 8 of us is headed to the World.
We all have the same FP+. If two of the group were off grabbing a snack, chasing Pokemon, or chugging a Beverly, could they still us the FP+ for an attraction even though they were not with the group, as long as they were in the time window?

I don't see why they couldn't but my brother thinks otherwise.

The way I figure it, would be what if 6 of us were together in the line, then 1 person who was not in our group was next in line, then the other two ,they could get through. If 10 or 100 or 1000 were between us it shouldn't matter, as long as they got in the window.

You can also tell the stragglers that there is a grace period for the return window - they can enter the ride with their FPs up to 15 minutes after the specified window closes.
