Splitting stay between DVC and Disney resort

We are planning on renting points to stay at a DVC property for the first half of our vacation and a Disney resort for the second half. I understand that 2 separate dining plans must be booked,but what about park passes? Will we have to buy park tickets separately rather than as part of a package? If so,will we still be able to take advantage of extended hours at the parks? I know that the parks are usually accessed with your room card,so I'm not sure how this would work.

If you book the DVC stay after the Disney resort stay, then you can just buy tickets with your package that are long enough to cover your DVC stay.

DVC members do not have to have tickets to get the DDP. However, those that book through Disney must buy tickets, unless you have an AP and book an AP "ticketless" package.

Just be aware the when you book a DVC stay and a Disney stay, there is no guarantee that you can stay in the same room and quite often, they do make you change rooms even if you trying to book the same type of room.

If you get the dining plan for a regular resort, you will have to purchase a ticket as part of the package. So do the regular resort first and get the ticket with all your days that you need on that ticket. When you move over to the DVC resort, you won't need a ticket to get the DDP. But you won't be able to put part of a ticket on your KTTW. So your park ticket will be separate from your room key/charging card.

The DVC part will not be a part of a package so you will need tickets seperate from your reservation.

If you are getting a package for your Disney resort stay that will probably include tickets for the length of that reservation.

You can buy tickets that are not on your room card for your DVC stay or you can buy them at the DVC resort and have them put on your Resort ID.

Either way it is not the ticket type that gets you into Extra Magic Hours, it is your resort ID, makes no difference if it has tickets on it or not.

You should have no problem with the Park tickets... you can buy them separately and may find a decent discount from a third party... AAA, Undercover tourist, etc. Disney's Bell services will make the transition easy... they will transfer your luggage & food(including perishables, will keep refigerated) to your 2nd resort.

But they want to get the dining plan for the part of their stay with the Disney package. With that, you must buy tickets through Disney.

They can add as many nights as possible which should be at least ten days. They could do it after the fact.

Thanks to everyone for your assistance in this. Unfortunately,we booked the non DVC resort for the second half of our stay, so it looks like we'd have to buy a separate ticket for each half. That would cost almost double for the tickets. They sure don't make it easy,huh?lol

Have you booked your DVC rental section? The reason I ask most DVC bookings are 11 months out at the least 7 months out.

In that case, why not look for something after the CRO portion that is already reserved? When is this trip planned? If it's in less than 6 months, you might be a little on the late side for DVC reservation. Many DVC rooms are booked very far ahead, and just because someone has points available to rent does not mean there is going to be an open reservation for them.

Can't you add days to your ticket before the trip starts? Is it because you don't get park tickets in advance, only when you check in? This seems like something you could sort out. If you can get the park tickets in your hands in advance, you can just exchange them at the concierge or guest services for longer tickets. (I think.)
