Splitting room charges?

I'm staying on-site with a sibling, so for the most part we will each be paying for our own food, souvenirs, etc. If we were to charge everything to our Magic Bands/room, is there any way to split the costs? Will Disney even be able to tell which charges come from each Magic Band? Charging to the room may initially seem easier, but if we have to then go in a dissect the bill between us we might instead use our own credit cards. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

When you check in, ask the front desk CM to link your individual credit cards to your MBs so you can each charge things back to your own forms of payment.

Awesome, thanks! Any idea if this can be something done online or on the app?

No, it has to be done in person at the resort front desk. And be sure to check your account in MDE or have the resort run it after the first day - sometimes it doesn't work, and it's better to get it straightened out earlier rather than later in the trip!

We went to MDE with my sister and all of the charges she made using her MagicBand were charged to our credit card even though she had put her credit card on her MDE account and used her PIN when making the charges. We were able to see her charges on the MDE app when we opened the View Charges folder for the room. At the end of the trip, we received the detail of charges and payments in an email. Every charge has the person's name next to it so we were able to add up her charges.

But we also purchased Individual lightning lane, ILL$, passes for three rides, and those charges were also applied to our credit card. These charges do not appear on the room bill. You have to look them up from the confirmation email.

Because we needed to add her portion for the ILL$ rides to her portion of the room charges, it was easiest for her to write a check to us after we got home.

Your invoice at the end will say which person charged each line item. When I go with my sister we just divide everything up at the end. We don't split checks at meals or bars, it all gets divided up after the trip.

Just make sure that it was set up properly before you check out. We went through the process of setting up separate credit cards attached to our magic bands, and it all ended up being charged to me anyway. It's much easier to remedy when you are still at the hotel, then after you return home.

🤯 I didn't know you could do this, very useful for my group.

When I go with my friend, we keep our receipts and go to the front desk each night and each pay our portion of the charges on the magic bands. It works for us. That way we keep on top of it and everything is paid by the right person.

I have attempted to do this several times and have not been successful. The front desk assured me it is set up then it doesn’t work. Then I spend more time at the desk trying to get it fixed and it still doesn’t work.

We’ve gone to the front desk and set up our individual cards on our bands. The key is to do it before you start charging stuff, aka right away.

We had a positive experience with being able to do this in August. We had a two BR so maybe that made the difference? I feel however there are rules that must be followed for it to work correct or i should say activate. I know there was with using the MB for a 2 BR where we had to unlock the studio first to be able to unlock both doors after if you unlocked the 1br first it would deactivate the MB 🤷‍♂️
