Splitting resorts? Worth the hassle?

I have booked the POFQ for 10 nights in June. I am now thinking that's a long time to stay in one hotel room and we might not get the chance for a long, long time to explore the other resorts so I'm thinking of staying in Pop Century for the first 4 nights and then moving to POFQ for the last 6.

DH & I will be there with our 11 year old son, 8 year old son and 15 month old daughter. DH thinks it would be too much hassle to pack up and leave mid-stream? Especially with a small baby. Am I crazy? Oh and of course we will be very cramped in the Pop room, all 5 of us so that's another consideration. Part of me thinks yeah, the boys would love the theming at Pop, the other part thinks no, we'll just go straight to the moderate for that extra bit of space right throughout our stay. I'm confused, as usual! Opinions welcome!!

Oh, to reserve the POFQ for 10 nights I need to put down one night's deposit tomorrow. If I give the deposit and then change to 6 nights, will there be a financial penalty? Told you I'm confused!

A really good idea is to stay at Riverside for 5 nights and then the next 5 nights try French Quarter!

splitting stays is no problem... but then again I have 2 kids and no baby. you just pack up your belongings and Disney staff moves them to next resort.
I might have to agree that moving to POP might be a tad small for all of you. don't know if they would let five in a room

and as far as deposit goes and rescheduling,,,,I don't believe there is a penalty, but think you might have to lay out one more night deposit for second resort.

remember, at POFQ there is a slide in pool, at POP there is not..might make the difference for you

We like to get in a couple of resorts with each visit. Perhaps after we have had the chance to stay at all of them, we won't do that yet. But right now, visiting new resorts is part of our fun. We don't go to the parks every day, and we like trying new restuarants and resorts for fun.

Last visit we split between the AKL and Poly, did this just tp please my wife. Had never stayed at the AKL before and will never again. Glad we did it in the order, 3 nights AKL then 6 nights Poly. AKL is not what its cracked up to be, not alot of animals in the Savannah for the extra money. Animal Kingdom closes at 5pm and nothing else to do there but sit on a bench and wait for the bus to go elsewhere.
Switching, check-in person said it's no problem, well comes time to switch, we go down early, just the 2 of us, and the bell station lady has an attitude. We had only 4 bags and one open 30 pack of beer that she ranted and raved about, we said we would go get a bag to put it in, my wife left to retrieve and the lady asked me to tape the carton up, yeah like I carry packing tape with me on vacation. Told her if it was going to be a problem I'll carry the carton and she should work on her people skills and may I speak with her supervisor. Mean time, wife returns with paper bag, we put beer in bag and another girl comes to the counter to work and handles everything with no problem. First girl says our bags will be delivered at 3pm that day. This was at 9am and now we're at the Poly with no bags, swim suits or nothing. Many calls to bell services and no bags till after 3. If I would have known earlier, I would have hauled the 4 bags on the Disney bus when we left, heck, I toted them in when I arrived, no one offered to bell them in and away from the check in counter. Long way down them corridors to your room. Needless to say, once in a room, packing and unpacking isn't fun when you're on vacation and once out of your suitcase, things don't go back like you're at home. Never a split stay for us, first and last. Pick your favorite resort, put your clothes in the drawers and head for the pool and relax for the duration of your stay!!

sorry you have problems.

take a backpack with items you can't live without - the baby stuff, medicine, sun screen, camera, swimming suits, etc

call bell services to come and get your luggage - then go to the park of your choice - when it is time to leave then go to the new resort and check in (if you haven't already - I generally do this before the parks opens) -

the problem that I see is the baby might need a nap when you are inbetween rooms. there are baby station at the parks but I don't know if they have a place for a baby to nap?

you generally have to be in your room when the luggage is delivered (to give the bell services a tip)

Pop Century bell services don't expect a tip - POFQ do.

I don't know about staying in POFQ - I would think POR with the trundle bed would be a better fit for your family.

I didn't find Pop that much smaller than the moderates - only one sink - that might be a big problem with your family.

I believe there are also trundle beds at POFQ in a certain number of rooms. You will also definitely have to put down another 1 night deposit for your second resort. Disney treats each reservation as completely separate, so a one night deposit will be due for each resort you book. I like the idea of splitting between POR and POFQ much better than going over to POP. You'll lose your free fridge for one (minor) thing. Another thought would be a split between a PO resort and CSR. I've read very nice things about both places.
