Splitting our stay between offsite and onsite

I thought we were just going to end up in the same offsite resort as our last trip which is fine because we really liked it and I wouldn't have to do any more researching and scouring the DIS boards for questions on resorts LOL. But I sort of have my husband now compromising on whether to stay offsite or onsite, so we are going to do both!! We are gonna do something like 4 nights onsite and then 6 or so offsite. The reasoning behind it is, my husband and myself are having a hard time going from a 2 bedroom, 1000 sqft place with washer dryer, full kitchen, yada yada yada, to a basic hotel room for atleast twice the money. We want to see how long we can stand to be in a small hotel room with ourselves and the kids in hopes of maybe next year, doing a full vacation with Disney. It makes no sense to him but I'm the Disney lover and he just wants to see me happy. Yes there are larger options at Disney, but unfortunetly, husband is still not convinced on the Family Suite at ASM and the 1 bedrooms suites at SS and OKW are a little pricey. We'll see, all this planning and opinions and wants could and probably will change next week ;)

But I'm confused as to how and go about booking it. I've been using Travelocity. Now, I'm to believe that when you book flight, hotel, and car, you save money? Well maybe I'm missing something but I don't see an option to split my stay between 2 hotels, it seems to be all or nothing. I can book everything separately but then I won't be getting a discount, is that right?

You might want to consider renting points from a DVC member for a nice villa room. Whether you do that or not you might want to consider making the WDW reort days weekdays to make them less expensive.

You may or may not be right about the dicounts for booking together. I don't think you can do it online but you may be able to over the phone. I've had a bit of success doing these splits that way. Good luck.

Good point, I never thought about calling to see if I could get both.

It's funny but there are so many options on where to stay, when to stay and for how long and my plans have change probably 3 times since writing that :rotfl: Isn't that the way it goes!

Still undecided. Last time I only planned for about 4 months. This time I pretty much started right after my last trip which gives me about 12 months :) So I have lots more time to be indecisive LOL.
