Splitting meals

Has anyone split meals on the dining plan.

For example: If my daughter and I us one adult TS credit and split the meal...does Disney allow that? Will they give us a second plate?

How old is she?
Under 3 you can definetly do that.
Over 3 she will have child TS credits that can only be used for child TS meals, sharing would leave you with only child credits, and they will not let you order 2 kids meals (one for each of you) because your card would say 1 child.
Buffets you can not share if she is over 3.
If the extra kids credit thing is not a problem then you could share a meal with her.

I'm just not sure it is worth it anymore.

I have a feeling the OP's daughter is over age 9 and they're talking about all adult credits.

Now that I posted I have to say I don't really have any idea what the answer to the question is. The restaurant can agree to give you an extra plate or not. I am not aware that there is a regulation across the board about sharing one meal, unless it is sharing the meal with someone who isn't on the dining plan. I do know you are not supposed to use your credits to buy meals for anyone who isn't on the dining plan.

At buffets, no one is allowed to share except for children under 3.

Thank you for your info so far.
She is over 9 but we often each purchase a salad and split an entree. We have a few signature meals scheduled therefore I thought we could do that in WDW and save the credits for the meals we needed to cover.

Has anyone done this before?

We are 2 adults and have split many meals at Disney we're not huge eaters and prefer to have a couple of small meals.. When we sit we just let the server know we are on the dining plan and ask if its okay that we split?

We've never had a problem. We also do double the tip for the server.

several times! absolutely no problem from the servers or anyone.

We actually share a couple TS so we can experience 1 extra TS such as breakfast buffet.

We did this last week so we could experience 2 table service restaurants in one day but save some credits for California Grill.
At Teppan Edo we used one TS Credit and paid OOP for a meal.
In the evening we used one TS at Tony's Town Square and shared....
On our last night we splurged at California Grill and used up 4 TS. It was wonderful. We did not share at California Grill.
We had no problems sharing at Tony's, but we did leave a generous cash tip when we shared.
