Just a quick question for all you budget minded dis'ers. If you order a double burger and order an extra bun, what do they charge you for the bun?
Don't know why I'm asking this...just curious I guess.
Thanks!
Heather

I've never seen a double burger listed at fast food venues at WDW. Most burger or salad meals can be had for about $6-8. I would try to save the money you need to have a good time rather than trying to "make up" an extra sandwich, personally.

Why not just cut it half? The buns aren't that tasty, anyway. They give you a lot of fries......:)

We usually split the burger in half. My DD loves burgers and they can't be found on the kids menus. Instead of buying two burgers we just split one and the fries. It's enough food for us both, easier on the wallet, and we don't have a lot of wasted food.

We also like to split burgers & most other meals. If you let them know you are splitting at some of the sitdowns they will bring the meal on seperate plates. Beaches & Cream does this, and they have great double burgers!! Besides, sharing leaves more room for the popcorn, bakery treats, mickey bars..............

I have seen double burgers on many of the counter service menus and we paid about .80 for an extra bun. Works out perfect for us because my 4 yr old loves burgers and splitting it works out great for us.

Am I the only one that has an ethical problem with the bun thing? Maybe I'm just strange...

I'd just split the meal... they're usually huge anyways, and who can eat when there are rides to ride! =)

We got an extra bun at Peco Bills when we ordered a double hamburger. It was .79. The people were glad to sale it to us and I saw NOTHING wrong with it. We paid for what we ordered. DS and I split and he puts nothing from the bar on his so it was not even like we were loading up two sandwiches. I piled mine with the mushrooms and onions.YUMMM. The fries were enough for the two of us and DH got his own meal. We always get a large drink and ask for extra cups. They aways give them with a smile. They often ask if we want ice in all of them. It's a good way for us to cut cost on those quick fast food meals so we can save our money for the nicer sit downs that we prefer.

Do you have kids? Spending 80 cents for a bun so that each kid can have their "own" burger sounds like a great idea to me! No problems with "he got the bigger half......"

How is buying a second bun unethical? Why is it more ethical to buy a meal and split it between two people? I've never done this before, but it sounds like a great idea for my kids. If Disney is happy to sell and extra bun with a meal, then you aren't doing anything wrong. If they had "rules" about buying the bun only for children under 12 or something, and you bought it for an adult, then I can see where it may be unethical. I can't see how it could possible be seen as unethical as it stands, though.

How can it be unethical? Disney has extra buns for sale on their computer system. It's not like I'm asking the bun for free... I'm paying for it.

I don't have a problem with buying a bun, especially after I saw someone make a salad from the toppings bar at the American counter service place last week. There was a man with a cardboard sandwich tray...he filled the container with lettuce and tomatoes, then took some lunch meat out of a cooler and ate the salad right there. He was alone, and I saw no other food at his table. He remained alone the entire time my son and I were at the restaurant. I don't know any other circumstances...someone might have been with him earlier, I have no idea.

Paying 80 cents for a bun sounds great to me. I wish I thought of it last week. I could have split a double burger with my son. I'll remember it for our next trip :)

We did the extra bun and the CM looked at us in amazement and said she never even knew about it and what a great idea it was. The people behind us were also impressed and did the same thing. The bun is paid for so disney knows about the practice. I doubt too many people order and extra bun just to eat more bread LOL.

If buying a bun was unethical than why would they sell them?
My DD hates sharing meals. Buying the extra bun and fixing it up withiut her seeing me is a great idea. She gets her own burger and I don't throw away an entire kids meal!

In my experience on these boards (but not usually the Restaurant board), people can't WAIT to point out behaviors that are supposedly "unethical." I don't see splitting meals as an ethics issue, unless there is some kind of rule (like at a sit-down place) that every person has to purchase a meal or something.

OMG. I have seen posts on these boards from people questioning the ethics of pool-hopping, sneaking a 10 year old in for a 9 year old admission, and other "unforgivable acts", but really...purchasing-actually paying for-an extra bun is unethical? I would hate to have to live up to some of these folks "ethics" on a daily basis! Lighten up! And I can totally see the kids fighting over who gets the bigger half. Great idea, and definitely worth the 80 cents in that case. But have you ever tried this?(This is my mother-in-laws take on the dividing/biggest piece problem-she had 7 kids) Two kids want one thing(piece of cake, drink, double hamburger at WDW). One kid gets to divide it, and the other kid gets to pick the first piece. Can you imagine the precision Kid 1 will take in making sure that the pieces are EXACTLY the same size??? :rotfl:

So I guess in answer to your original question, Yes, it appears that you are the only one who has an ethical problem with the bun thing!

My daughter would !! :D When she asks for a "plain" hamburger, what she really means is just the bun!! What we usually do (at McDonald's or wherever) is order 2 hamburgers. I take the meat out of one and put it in the other. Then my older DD gets a double hamburger!!

I have never done this at Disney, though.
