Splitting costs onboard?

My roomate and I recently booked our first cruise. We travel together a lot, and each pay our own expenses. If I'm understanding correctly, we each will have a card that we will use to pay for everything onboard the ship. This is then charged to our room, which needs to be linked to a credit card or be pre loaded with cash. First, am I correct so far? Second, is there a way to separate this somehow? Link each card to our own credit card or cash? I trust my roomate 100% and have no issues at all with her charges going onto my card if this is the only way. However, I'm thinking its going to be a pain to have to go over reciepts/try to separate charges at the end of the cruise. Our goal is to relax, not crunch numbers. Thoughts/advice from all you seasoned cruisers out there?

I don't know if you can have the charges linked to separate cards, but if I remember correctly, DW, DD15, and my charges were all itemized under separate headings. If this is true, although not ideal, it would be easy to figure out who charged what. AFAIK, you can either put cash on your account or link a card to it, then use your personal stateroom keys for the charges.

When I was doing on-line check-in, it gives you dry specific options of who is allowed to charge to which card. My mom and I are traveling with my kids and my kids can charge to my card but not hers and she has her own credit card that I put in when I did on-line check-in.

Each person (over age 18) absolutely may have a separate account linked to a separate payment method. When doing online check in, it may default to the lead name taking financial responsibility for others in the same stateroom but you just make sure that those boxes are unchecked and when you go to the information for the second person, it will ask for a payment method again.

Anyway, even if you have the accounts linked, they do separate the bills by each person's card so you would be able to easily see who charged what.

I have traveled this way before and am just waiting for my PC Repo with a friend. Each name on the online registration is given a section for payment method on their charges. The only thing is, if there is some sort of onboard credit for the cabin, that isn't able to be split, I believe.

Awesome! Thanks everyone that is exactly what I was hoping we could do.

It is very easy to designate a separate credit card for each individual guest's key card account. Automatic gratuities will then be billed separately as well. However, the lead name/account on the reservation will always be responsible for any damage to the cabin or its DCL-owned contents, including lost or damaged wave phones, door damage from decorations or anything else, "taken" laundry bags, missing "big red" pillows, etc.

Yes, you are correct that you will each have a KTTW (key to the world) card that will allow you to purchase items on the ship, allow access to your stateroom and allow you to leave the ship at your various ports. Yes, you can separate each of your KTTW cards to each of your own credit cards (I did this in November when I traveled with my friend).

Does it have to be to a credit card, or can I load Disney Gift Cards to each KTTW card? IE - can I designate a gift card to my son for his KTTW card, then have my credit card be the backup for him if/when he spends the entire gift card?

You can add a spending limit, gift card or separate credit card to your son's account at Guest Services once you arrive on the ship.
