Split stays

Okay, I go the room only discount pin, but it doesn't start until the day after I was hoping to arrive. So if I do a split stay at the same resort, how does that work, do I need to move rooms, will I be able to get my tickets to the Walt Disney World or will I have to wait until the next day when my new reservation starts. I am guessing that our dining and ticket package would be with the second reservation -right? Any advice would be helpful. I am actually considering just cutting a day of our trip, but I was really hoping for 6 full days this trip.

Second question, I just saw that you could combine discount and non-discount, so if I have a PIN for dates starting Nov 13, but I wanted to stay the 12th too, I could do that, but wouldn't receive the discount for that night? Boy, that would work great if that is true.

Thanks for any help

I just went through this today. I will be arriving 1 day before my discount with a pin code starts. I had to make one reservation for my 1 non-
discounted night, and another for my pin code stay. I was told that the new pin code has black out dates and those dates cannot be added to the reservation even at rack rate. So I now have 2 reservations at the same resort for 1 stay. To answer your question about having to change rooms. I was told it could be noted (continuing reservation) but not guaranteed.
Sorry, I don't know the answer to ticket question as we did a room only reservation.
Hope this helps.

Belle spelled it well...
Let me just add that It sounds like you are buying a package with dining & tickets with your pin code ressie which means you would have to wait to get those tickets until 2nd day and dining as well. If you don't have to buy your ticket in a package, you could just buy 6-day MYW tickets on your firs stay, since the hotel stay does not limit the days bought on the ticket. BUT the dining would have to be purchased separately because it is tied to the amount of days on your ressie.

Might get complicated, but you can probably come up with a plan that works! Here's some pixiedust: to help out

You could also pick up your tickets a day early (before your discount room begins) at Guest Relations at any park or DTD if you're staying on property like you would be. These would only be tickets and NOT dining (they are paper tickets which you can then transfer to your KTTW card for your longer reservation).

So if you want a 6-day trip you get 6-day park tickets even though dining would only be for 5 of those nights.

Also, we added a day to our trip in July and 2 separate reservations. We were able to keep our room. That's normally the case because when you think about it, you'd just be "checking out" of your room and "checking in" to an identical room in the same category, so why would they go to the trouble of making you switch rooms?

Thanks for the information, it appears that we will have a decision to make -either do the split stay and just go to DTD the first night and get tickets and dining for the rest of the trip or skip a day or switch to the last week in October, that was my original date, but the family wanted to see the Christmas lights. Thanks so much.

I'm in the exact same boat. And I have an add on question.

We're going 11/26 thru 12/3. Our pin starts on 11/27. Can I book the first night as room only, and then book the remaining days under the pin? Then, can I buy 8-day park tickets (under the PIN ressie), or do I have to pay full price for the 1st day of tickets, and then add the 7 day ticket at regular rate too? Does that even make sense? Also, we have dining mixed in there too. I'm just confused by this. I know that it would be easier to just book starting 11/27, but I know the airfare on the Sunday after Thanksgiving is usually ridiculous. I'm seriously cheap, and I don't want to pay more than I have to.

Thanks!!!

jennapens....
My post and Turk's post answered your questions, but I will try to re-clarify it for you

11/26
You can book a 1-night room only ressie
You won't buy a ticket for this since you will buy it with your other ressie
Since you don't buy a park ticket, you can't get DDP for this 1 night stay. Just buy food OOP for this one day.

11/27-12/3
Book an identical room with the pin code and when booking this one, ask them to link it with your 1-night ressie. They will give you the usual "we can't guarantee..." but we have done this many times and never had to move.
Now go ahead and book your DDP for this ressie to take care of dining.
Buy an 8 day ticket with this ressie. You can then just pick your ticket up a day early on 11/26 at a park kiosk (according to Turk you get a paper ticket here), and use it that day to get in the parks.

Hope that makes it simpler and more clear :thumbsup2

Papa is 100% correct. Once you "check in" on your 2nd day (you'll have to go to check-in to get your package with your KTTW cards even if you're staying in the same room), you can ask them to transfer your park tickets onto your KTTW card.

NOTE - You don't HAVE to transfer the paper tickets, it's just 1 less thing to carry around. When you pick up your tickets early, those are ALL your tickets (all 8 days) on the paper ticket. You could use them all week and use your KTTW card for the dining plan, there's no rule saying you have to sync them to 1 card.

Thanks for all the awesome advice, we have decided to do the split stay and just do the pool and DTD the first night, then the next morning, I will go to the front desk and recheck in. Thanks again, it really helped having all the information, that way we could discuss it as a family and decide what we all wanted.

Thanks again, I had a great CM and was able to book everything this morning - got POFQ from Nov 12 through the 19th, 35% off 6 nights, rack rate for one. Even with adding an extra night at the resort, it was only about 500 more than our trip 2 years ago. Will be watching for free dining or other discounts, but this means we are going. Thanks for everyone's help.
