Hello all,

I am considering the following plan: Stay at Coronado for one night. On checkout day hang out at the pool and maybe have lunch before heading to DS by bus. Explore DS a bit as we head over to the boats, then boat up to POR where we will be staying for a week. I will have a bag with all our swim stuff and other things we may need while our luggage is with bell services. Is there a limit to how big the bag can be to get into DS? I assume a rolling carry on bag is out of the question because I don’t think they would be allowed on the bus, but would DS security be ok with a backpack full of stuff? Thanks.

A backpack is fine. I do not believe you would be allowed even a small rolling suitcase on Disney transportation and possibly not at DS either. I know they are not allowed in the parks or water parks but I am not 100% sure about DS.

Yes you can bring a backpack full of stuff in but do you really want some stranger pulling out your swimsuits if you’re flagged for inspection? That’s kinda eww. Why not just rideshare over to POR to drop it with bell services and then boat to DS? Might even get lucky and find out your room is ready early. Or if you only want Disney transport bus to DS, bus to POR to drop your stuff with bell services.

Also DS is not tiny, it will not be too fun exploring around for the family pack mule.

I took a backpack that I used as a carryon, fully packed, to DS once.

Security went through the whole thing. I use packing cubes but they even opened some of those. I expected it so not a huge deal but still not my favorite experience. They were nice about it but be prepared for the privacy invasion.

I hope your backpack wasn't like mine when you did this :rotfl2:

I second this plan. OP, I would do your CSR activities/lunch and then ride share over to POR and have bell services hold all of your stuff, then take the boat to DS from there. I can't imagine walking around DS with rolling luggage or a heavy backpack.

I've flown (January 2025) with a small backpack carry-on, and then taken the Lynx to Disney Springs and through security to get to the Disney busses. My bag did not get flagged (but I packed very intentionally with this in mind and was only doing two nights).

I did see a family with a full suitcase that was being manually checked, which makes me think that the suitcase was allowed into DS. My understanding is that it can't be taken on the Disney bus.
