Split Stay?

we are CONSIDERING doing a split stay, to spend just a couple of days at the Poly.....just can't swallow the idea of paying, even the Passholder summer rate, for a full 8 night trip. Have some specific questions about luggage/DME.

Do we need to move our luggage ourselves, or would bell services handle this for us? If they handle it, do you tip both the sending and receiving clerks?

Would DME register that we've moved resorts or do we have to make 2 separate reservations?

Any information/tips appreciated......

I do this all the time and will be on both of my next two trips. I just tell DME up front. Call Bell services in the AM to pick up your bags and transfer to new resort before going into the parks. I tip both ways about a buck/bag. Bags are usually at new resort by 4-5 PM.

Love split stays! The luggage transfer works exactly as Kirk described. They'll even keep refrigerated items for you!

"Split Stay" is an Internet term. Disney does not recognize it. In their eyes you have 2 distinct reservations.
Bell Services can transfer your luggage. You need to tip both folks. Your bags will not arrive at resort 2 until late afternoon/ early evening.
You are basically "homeless " on transfer day. You need to be out of resort 1 before 11 and likely will not have a room at resort 2 until near 3 or after. No naps that day

I used luggage transfer on my last stay between POFQ & CSR, both of which are moderates. Unlike DME bag delivery, you must call bell services to get them delivered or pick them up yourself. I couldn't get my bags delivered at CSR until after 5, so don't expect to show up in the afternoon and pick them up. The rule of thumb always when traveling is if someone touches your bag, they deserve at least one dollar a bag.

As for DME, you'll book two separate reservations: one-way from the airport on the first reservation and one-way to the airport on the second. It's best to call in to get this setup.
