I posted last week asking advice where to stay and got helpful feedback. We thought of a different plan regarding resorts and wanted to hear some feedback.

5 day trip, flying in from NYC, first time at DL.

The price difference between staying on site and off site is about 2k for us. On site we want to stay at the DL Hotel.

We thought of now doing a split stay.
Staying at the Anaheim Fairfield Mariott for the first 2 nights (it would be free, we have enough points to cover it) and staying at the DL Hotel. We would book a package, 5 day tickets with park hopper in a standard room comes to just under $2400 vs all 4 nights at $3900.

We're staying monday- friday. So from my understanding we get a magic morning which we would use Tuesday since its our first morning there. And if we check into the Disneyland hotel super early, we would be able to use the Extra Magic Hour Wednesday- Friday.

Interested in hearing what people think.

Have you checked the price difference in using a discount ticket retailer versus booking them as a package? We saved a bundle buying our Park Hoppers from last minute travel. I don't know how it works at DL but at WDW you can't use your park ticket prior to check in so you'd have to reverse your split stay to use the 5 day park tickets. I'm sure someone else will jump in to clarify.

I know at WDW you can pick up your tickets up to 10 days early you just have to go to a ticket booth. I've never booked a package at DL though so I'm not sure how that works. We use our DVC for a split stay. This time we're staying off property for the first 3 nights and then at GCV for the next 3 nights. We will check in at about 6am and have bell services hold our bags so that we get the EMH on our first day checking in at GCV.
I would also strongly suggest pricing it out separately with discounted tickets and a room only reservation, it gives you more flexibility and the "extras" at DL are extremely limited so you're really not missing much not having a package.

Yep. I would look into getting your tickets from LMT, you'll save even more! I like the Fairfield Inn. It's very basic but the staff is great, very welcoming, the pool area is nice compared to a lot of the pools that are across the street from DL and it's a 6 minute walk. Split stay sounds like a good idea.

I think its a great plan. Honestly, you don't save much buying the tickets separate and a lot of times there are other goodies thrown in through Disney. And it comes in the mail in a cool envelope, which is super exciting. At the very least you will get plastic tickets through Disney. I am willing to pay a little more for that.

Just as reference.... I ordered 5 day base tix from lmtclub for $1244. From Disney they would've been $1460. So, $216 is significant, but if the goodies from Disney are important to someone then I could see that the difference may not be large enough to be prohibitive.

OP, I would definitely look at the price difference between the package and room only plus tickets through LMTClub.

5 day parkhoppers through the Disneyland website: $335.00
5 day parkhoppers through the LMTClub website: $281.97

Savings per ticket: $53.03

Even if it is only for 2 people, that is over $100 savings. I'm not sure if plastic tickets and a cool envelope are worth $100.

Love the plan OP. I think it will work out great! You will have to check into the DLH on Wed morning before entering the parks fyi. They will issue your room key which is what is used to prove you are an onsite guest and eligible for the Extra Magic Hour.

I can't seem to find DL tickets on their website?

Thanks! I'm glad the split stay will work if we decide to go that way. It's so hard to decide!!
