Split stay with Swan/Dolphin

Hello!
I'll be staying a week at Swan/Dolphin using points from my SPG card. I was thinking of adding on a few nights at a value resort to extend my trip.
Has anyone done a split stay with Swan/Dolphin? Was the transition easy? Would you recommend staying at the value resort first or last?
Any advice is welcome!

I do it frequently. Stay value first. Never go from deluxe to value. It hurts.

Agreed! We like to stay value first. It is nice to move upscale rather than down. Also, if you are using DME, we prefer to have this service upon arrival. Then we book our return via town car, taxi or use Uber. This saves time on your way to the airport, which can be important to us.

I did it in March and am doing it again in Sept. I drive down so I don't have to deal with DME and the transitions are pretty easy for me since I just load up the car and drive over. I agree start with the value, I go from moderate to deluxe.
