Split stay - Will I regret this

I think it depends on each family and how they vacation. We have done 3 splits and the first was 5 nights at SSR and then 3 at BWV. Then our 2nd was a 8/6 split staying at OKW first then BCV. Then we did a split sorta in Nov. because we couldn't get our last night at SSR so we moved over to ASMU. It was not what we wanted but we did it stay Thanksgiving night. Anyway.....I think it is harder for people that have young kids to do the splits. At least that is what I would think. Our kids are 18, 15 and 10 so it is not that big a deal. However I feel like you need at least 3 nights at one of the places. So for us....we won't move to the 2nd location unless we are going to stay there for at least 3 nights or vice versa. I don't want to stay somewhere for 1 night and then move. That is not my cup of tea. I don't mind the split stays right now and after I stay at all the resorts..we will probably just stay put from now on and then just switch off where we stay each trip. Right now we are still in that WE WANT IT ALL SO LET'S TRY THEM ALL PHASE. :lmao: I think for people that have their own vehicles it might be easier too.

We have had split stays on several of our WDW trips. The up-side is that you have something new/fun to look forward to, almost like a new vacation when you check out from your first ressie and go to your second. The downside is that is is very nice to just settle in once to arrive on property and not move at all. I will say that our preferred split is to do the smaller number of days up front, and then the longer stay on the end.
We drive, so changing resorts for us is just a matter of packing up and driving to another resort, but many people have great success with having Disney handle the transfer of bags.:)

My feeling exactly. I've done it but people in my travel party don't usually care to do that.

Been there, done it...and doing it again!

As you can see by my countdown, we are splitting between VWL and BWV next week (:thumbsup2 ). We have done as many as 3 different resorts in one stay (over 16 nights) and 2 in as few as 7 nights. Having a car does help and you may need to plan ahead for the time between checking out of one and checking in the other.

So, will you regret it? Not from our experience. Others may disagree, but that is what WDW and DVC is all about...options, options, options...

Good luck and have a great time! :goodvibes

As I am telling you this, I have a split stay 8 nights THV and 2 AKV sav view planned for the end of Aug. so I probably sound like I'm talking out of both sides of my mouth if you know what I mean... Okay so two years ago we did the land and sea plus 3 nights after it. 3 nights at POLY/4 nights Wonder, then 3 nights OKW. It seemed like it went so fast splitting it up like that (and it was 10 nights). If your vacation were just the 9 nights, I would definitely say go for it, but I think you'll be sick of moving and won't want the last move in there-- I know we couldn't have handled another move. Good luck with whatever you decide, you'll have a great trip no matter which way you choose to go.

Actually this is almosy easy compared to what we did last year. We stayed one night in a hotel near the airport in the UK, one night at a hotel near MCO, 5 nights on the Disney Magic, 1 night in a hotel near the port, 4 nights on the Disney Wonder and 8 nights at OKW. We have also done a fly drive tour in the past that incorporated Disneyland, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Phoenix and San Diego. So the moving aspect doew not really bother me.

What was my worry is that I would not want to move on to another resort while still staying on site, especially as I had planned to spend 6 nights at BLT which is so convenient for MK and Epcot. This has sorted itself out. Yesterday I could have tried to book my 6 nights at BLT. I got my membership card and the MS phone number, when DH suddenly said that he no longer wants to stay at BLT as he would miss OKW too much. I was slightly taken aback by this as we had been discussing this for ages. Anyway, we discussed this again over breakfast and we decided that I would try to change my 3 night reservation in a standard view studio at Kidani to a 4 night reservation in a Savannah view studio. I could not get this at Kidani, but managed to get a Savannah view studio at Jambo House for the four nights. I have to say I prefer being at Jambo House as we will have Boma, Jiko and Mara right there. I am sure we will got for a swim at Kidani and also have a meal at Sanaa, but Jambo House is a better fit for us. After that we will have 5 nights at OKW so everybody is happy. Now I just have to hope that I can get a couple of dinner reservations at Boma, one at Jiko and either lunch or dinner at Sanaa once my 90 day window opens.
