We will be splitting a 7 night stay between Grand Floridian and Yacht Club. We will obviously spend a lot of time at Magic Kingdom when staying at the GF. We will have 3 nights there. Should we do MK exclusively during those first 3 days or are there any other convenient parks? Which park would be best to go to on our "switch" day? Perhaps Animal Kingdom since that's far from everything?

Thanks!

I am splitting a stay between Beach Club and Poly and plan on doing AK my switch day!

I figure I will leave my bags with Bell Services, take the bus to AK, do a whole morning, lunch, and part of the afternoon. Bus back to Beach Club, pickup my bags from Bell Services, and take a Minnie Van to Poly past 3pm hoping my room is ready. That night I figured we would take it easy and go to the Hoop Dee Doo.

I know the resort will transfer our bags and I have done it in the past, but I will definitely want some things day of so I figure if I am taking some bags in a car, I will just take them all. I have utilized the Minnie Vans in the past and they are truly wonderful!

You could go to Epcot or DHS on moving day. When we switch resorts we like to get up early, take a taxi to new resort, do early check in, sometimes room is ready, if not leave luggage with Bell Service for same reasons as PolyRob. We may need something. And I want my luggage there when Room is ready.
Then go to a park.

We did a Poly and BC split last trip. On moving day we did DHS.

We are doing a POFQ and BWV split next stay and will be doing DHS on moving day again.

When the resort transfers your bags... how long does that usually take? i.e. how late in the day should we expect the bags to be taken to the next resort?

Ours didn’t arrive until around 4 pm and we dropped them off at 7:30 am.

Thank you! That isn't too bad... We're doing our first split stay in just over a month... 1 night at Pop and then transfer for 7 days at Poly... Our transfer day is Epcot, with dinner... so it sounds like we can expect our bags after we come back from dinner? That works great!

With those hotels, I would definitely do MK and Future World at Epcot while at the GF both reachable from the monorail. I always recommend AK for hotel switch day as you have to bus to and fro no matter which hotel you stay at. Then I would advise doing Studios and the WS at Epcot while at Yacht Club. The boats and walking if you prefer make the Epcot/Studio hotels so much of an advantage.

Another tip. Hotel switch day, AK has lockers to left after you enter. If you are worried about not having things (Swim suits, change of clothes, makeup or hair care) then pack a backpack and store it in a locker. If you leave the park early and head to your new resort, you will have some essentials that will get you by till the bags come.

Also- If you don't want to wait on the luggage, with the new Minnie Vans, it would only cost you $20(or is it $25?) to get from one deluxe to another in one of those cute Minnie vans with all your luggage. . Go early, check your luggage with bell staff and head to the park from your new hotel.

It really isn’t bad except we went in August and do midday breaks by the pool. Since our luggage wasn’t there yet we napped instead. For next trip if we’re planning a midday break we will do uber and take our own bags. If not we will have Disney move them.

Yes, I would focus on MK while you are at GF. On your switch day, I would either do AK (since you have to bus or cab there from every resort) or EP. There's nothing like spending a day in EP and then simply walking back to your resort!
