Anyone else doing a split stay to take advantage of Free Dining?

We already had a stay booked at BCV for 5 nights, and then I couldn't resist the lure of Free Dining, so we are now getting there 3 days earlier and staying at POP for 3 nights, before switching over to BCV!

Gotta cram all our big meals into those first 4 days! ha ha!

Anyone else doing something similar?

no cause we just bought our dining plan on top of our stay. If you do the dining plan correctly you will save a lot of money. The trick is to do it correctly.

We added 3 days on to our trip last year. We were out of points and free dining was a good excuse to stay for DDs birthday.

Nennie,
I'm sorry, I dont understand how that would work out. Aren't you supposed to use all of you dinning meals by 12 midnight during you last day after you check out?
I'm sorry I'm learning still!

Yes, you are correct! I check in POP on Thurs, and check out on Sun, so I have Thurs-Sun to use up all my meal credits which will expire Sun night (even though I check in BCV Sun morning). That's why I joked that I have to cram all my good restaurant meals into the first 4 days, b/c Mon-Sat (when I'm at BCV) I won't have free dining anymore.

Hope that makes sense!!!

We will just pay cash for the dining plan. For the cost of the park tickets we do not need and the room, it would not really be a value. We would just stay on our points.

I will not stay in a value and do not really like the moderates, so the cost per night for a Deluxe would not save us any money really.

Also, the free dining offer for this year stipulates that the value resorts get the quick service plan. Since you are talking about TS reservations, I take it you paid to upgarde to the regular DDP? Sorry, but that wouldn't be worth it to me. As PP's have stated, I would rather pay for the DDP when staying on our points and use it wisely. I would surmise most DVC members don't like the values, or they'd be staying in them and wouldn't own DVC. I am one of those. ;)

For us the DDP has lost it's luster and I don't enjoy fighting the crowds during "free"dining. We enjoy eating, but we can eat at home.

We would rather spend our time enjoying Disney, but not the restaurants.

How do you do it to save a lot of money. We are doing a split stay in October and are thinking about adding it for our first 3 nights since we have reservations at Sanaa and Jiko. But when I look at Jiko's menu and realize that it uses 2 of my TS credits, it just doesn't add up to me. Am I missing something?
