Who split their stay w/three hotels? Any advice? Its just 2 of us - DS & myself
we'll be staying 5 nights Pop, 3 nights WL and 6 BCV - Im thinking of living out of the suitcase at WL

You may want to consider packing in a way where you won't have to open every suitcase you're bringing with you. Instead of packing a suitcase for each of you, pack enough clothes for the first portion of your trip with enough clothes for your first stay, maybe pack a small bag with toiletries and shoes. Then you won't have to open and unpack all your stuff.

POR 1st night of arrival on a friday.
Check In time- 11pm. Basically did nothn but get a drink with Piano man Bob.
1230am- call the front desk and request a baggage pick up for OKW.

Pick up time= 730am

Next day wake up at 7 to quickly shower before the luggage guy gets there.
(you have to be there for them to pick it up)..Guy never comes by 745..Call the front desk and inquire whats going on..>Says they will send someone right up.....10 minutes later they take our bags.
ease of use= not so good

check out 9am following a nice breakfast at boatwrights.
ease of use=flawless. Just dropped off our cards.

Check in at OKW.
Actual check in=flawless. short simple.

Go to bell hop for our bags.
Bags are missing. ....Of course...
Guy callls Port Orleans ( maybe like 5 minutes away)
wondering where they are....Of course we are waiting there while he
is on the phone and miraculiously a Port orleans van pulls up with our Luggage and only our luggage in it....what a coinicedence.
Time of occurance 630pm
we went to a park prior to check in....
They are supposed to drop off luggage by 3 at the latest...

Check out OkW after 4 nights.
Check out=quick

Check into WL day 8....Big grins!!!

At least after 3pm they had our luggage this time.

That switch from POR to OKW was hel* though
How was it...It was ok....but seemed we were on the run and not comfy
staying in one place.....I think i will not do it again.....at the most i will do 2.

I've done it, but wouldn't do it again. It was just too much moving, packing, etc for us. We also have little ones, so being without a room until 4PM or later was tough. Remember check-in is at 3PM or 4PM (depending on resort) but the rooms aren't required to be ready at that time. We once had to wait until slightly after 5PM (2 hours after check-in) to get our room at the Poly. It was a tough day.... We usually go for two weeks and we switch only once. It makes the vacation feel fresh and feel new. I also feel like I get to get settled in that location and am ready to move on after 6 or 7 nights. Anything less, unless it's the only stay, I won't move anymore.

We do it all the time, and there are four of us. I pack a suitcase for each of us for the number of days at each place--mind you I do have laundry to do while on vacation, but thats usually four people for 14+ days, so I refuse to pack that many clothes.

If we are staying two days somewhere--two days of clothes are packed for that resort, entire families toiletries in one bag, shoes in outside pockets of suitcases. 5 day stay, 5 days worth, etc. This is how I do it when we drive, since we have one overnight--one days worth of all needs and free sample toiletries all in one small bag--everything else stays in the car.

We always have a car so that makes the switch hassle free. I have done check out and check in both early and late--there is no consistancy to room beign ready or not. Depends on how full the resort is and such.

If you are organized and nto antsy about the "homeless" thing you'll be fine.

We've done it in the past but not recently. I agree it is probably best if you have a car. Although we did not have any issues without a car; the luggage is moved for you and was always done efficiently. My sense was that at some resorts they have scheduled times for making the moves so that you can leave at any time before check-out, but your luggage may not get to your new resort right away. I say this as a precaution in case you need access, but we rarely had to wait.

We will be doing it in just one week.

4 nights at ASM, 2 nights at HRH and 3 nights at Sheraton near the Airport.

we did it this way to maximize on site percs.

I'm glad you raised that question - we're staying three places on our wedding trip. An offsite villa with out family for 6 nights, then AKL for 8 nights and then an offsite hotel - 2 mins from AKL - for the final 7 nights. I had to admit I'd thought about the repacking of the suitcase thing - but hadn't thought about the gap between check out and check in!?!? It will only be an issue on the last swap as our family are staying in the villa when we move to AKL so we can just do the swap in the afternoon. Good job we have a car to leave our luggage in on the other swap day.

I do like the idea of a suitcase per hotel - I usualy mix up mine and my DH's clothes in each suitcase - just in case one gets lost en route - so we could do that no problem. I suppose it just means making the decision of what you want to wear when before you pack the cases!

Another thing to add to my "things to think about" list! It's getting longer by the day - after each visit to this forum in fact... I'm so glad I discovered it :cheer2:

My son and myself, 6 days, one night at AKL, 1 night at Poly and 3 nights at BWI, we did that a few yrs ago, lived out of our suitcases, I didn't mind it at all, my son was old enough to take care of all his stuff. If I had a little one I would not do it. Last yr was the first time we didn't change resorts, 7 days at BWI, I actually liked that even better

We did this past summer. We stayed 1 night at AKL - 3 nights at POR-FQ - 2 nights at HRH and 3 nights at PC during Hurricane Frances and ended up being 9 nights total.

We had a car which made it much easier, and our group consisted of 7 people. I am sure that my sister and her family will never want to switch hotels mid-stay again, but me and my son loved it.

Enjoy!

I usually split 2 to 3 times per visit (usually 9 nights total). I love it and have never had a problem. I never have a rental so I rely on Disney transferring the bags and have always had great results. Good luck and have fun!!

The most I have done was 4 diff hotels in 9 nights! Two at HRH~ two at RPR~ four at CBR~ (then I had to switch due to problems at CBR, I couldn't take it anymore)~ and one at CSR (which saved our trip). And this is with my two children. That was a lot of moving, but it was fine.

DH and I love to resort hop! It feels like a new vacation with each move! I know I'm in the minority, but we do not unpack. We pack each day's clothes separately (outer and undergarments) in the 2.5 gal. zip lock bags and place them in the suitcase. We each have a large train case (old fashioned term - don't know what else to call it) and for all of our personals and toiletries. We keep them on the vanity in the bathroom and pull things out as needed. Very easy to pack up and head out on moving day. We would never dream of doing this without renting a car though.

Just curious, what was the CBR problem? And how would you compare CBR in general to CSR?

Thanks!

We've done five resorts in 15 days!

3 Gf, 2 WL, 3 YC, AKL and 4 Swan

It was great fun. I love moving, in fact, we've never done a trip w/o doing it. I like to alter my proximity to the different resorts so I feel it cuts down on transportation time (our usual combination is AKL and we only visit AK, then BWI for Epcot MGM, then finish our stay at GF for multiple trips to MK).

We don't unpack our suitcases and the moving has never bothered me.
It's great fun!

In December, we did 2 nights AKL, 3 nights Poly, 4 nights YC. I didn't expect to enjoy the switches, but it was great - and what a way to do some comparison shopping. First thing in each room - put up the Christmas lights! We didn't unpack many clothes. We did have a car. We'd check out, go to the early magic park, leave for some lunch, check in, rest, head out to another park. I don't think it took us more than 15 minutes to pack up for each switch.

I would never do it again! My DS and I stayed Pop Century for the first night, DTD Hilton for 2 nights and WL for 8 nights (3 were extra due to Hurricane Francis). There is nothing like checking in for the week and getting settled in and not having to worry about packing or anything but having fun till it's time to go home.

Did this last month to get in more time an S/D, first 3 days @ Swan, middle 2 @ AllStar last 3 at Dolphin. Never again will I do even 2 let alone 3. I never felt settled in and we were always no more that the day after tomorrow from checking out.

We've done it! Our kids are older though and responsible for getting their own things together. But we prefer to change resorts, gives a way to sample.....

If your organized, you can handle it.

Good Luck,

I have two "not so little ones anymore" and we go for 2 and a half weeks every year. The first week on Disney property. The second off sight at or near Universal. The last 4 days back on Disney Property at a resort that the kids pick out. I agree with previous posts on creative packing but since we usually have a washer and dryer at our offsite location and stay very close to the Prime Outlets off of International Dr. we usually only pack a weeks worth of clothes and buy the rest at the Disney Character outlet.
Congrat's on your big trip and welcome to the wonderful world of Disney. :earsboy:
