Split Stay.. three different resorts ... Crazy??

We did it for our first ever split stay. It was a piece of cake.

Started out with 1 night at AoA.
Left there and checked in to CR for 3 nights.
After that we went to YC for 2 nights.

It worked out very well, even without a car
We arrived in the evening and stayed at AoA #1, to check out the resort and #2, it was cheaper since we weren't spending much time on site that first night. Hated paying for a TPV at CR when we didn't arrive till 8:00 PM.
We asked Bell Services to just hold our bags from ME that night. We had packed all we needed for that night in our carry ons. Instead of them delivering them that night only to pick them up the next morning I just asked if they could keep them. They did and that next morning we had them get our carry ons and deliver them all to CR.
We took the bus to MK, walked to CR to check in, got our room info and headed to the park. Came back and went to the room and all our stuff was there.
Checked out of CR, had bell services take everything to YC for us.
We walked to MK and got a bus to YC, checked in and hit the pool. Got our bags later that day.

We did have a bit of MB issues at YC but a quick scan of the bands at the desk corrected that and linked them to open the door.

I don't unpack even if we stay put for 10 nights so it was no different to us. We are types that live completely out of a suitcase, even adding our dirty clothes back to the suitcase under the clean ones.

ETA - our split stay didn't impact park time at all.
The day we went from AoA to CR we had not planned a rope drop or anything. We were going to activate our AP and purchase TiW card so we just did that after checking in to CR. Then we hit a park.
We planned the day we switched from CR to YC as a day off from parks anyway. It was the day following the 24 hour day at MK. We knew we'd be out late that night so we slept in, checked out of CR and headed to YC, where we'd planned to relax at the pool for the entire day. We didn't need our bags till that night.

We're going to try this out on our next trip. 3 resorts for 3 nights a piece. Similar situation to OP in that Poly was only available to us in middle of trip.

We rarely don't do a split stay. We have done it via three resorts, and for us, it's been fine. The only pain in the neck has been packing, then unpacking several times. We just bring our luggage to Bell Services, tell them which resort we're switching to, then go about our day. We arrive and check-in at our new resort, and our luggage is usually already there, or comes along shortly! Good luck!

We have a 3 way split stay coming up. They can actually save time, as they allow us to block our Epcot and MK days and certain ADRs while we are at nearby resorts. Less bus time. We use packing cubes, just pull them from the drawers to move. We drop luggage, leave for a morning park, keep swimsuits in a daypack, then take a disney transport to the new hotel. I often plan a late TS lunch that day, to buy more relaxing time in case the room is delayed.

Food is the tricky part. On a split stay we don't stock a lot of food in the room, just the kind that travels well.

We feel the same way... the time we save getting to the parks each day (because we move around and plan our park days accordingly) more than make up for the time we spend packing to move. We also pack lightly and use packing folders and cubes. I have friends who would hate to change resorts, though, so it really just depends on what makes you comfortable.

Our most recent trip was a 5 way split stay (POR-WL-Poly-BC-AKL) over 16 nights. We loved it (but it was sort of a one in a lifetime trip). It was somewhat like having 5 vacations in one (for us, the resorts and restaurants are half the fun of WDW).

From a practical perspective, we find split stays actually save us time because we plan our park days and ADRs so that they are always close to whatever resort we are staying at during that part of the vacation. Along those lines, we hardly ever need to rely on buses.

On vacation, we don't unpack our suitcases (other than a small toiletry bag) so it only takes us about 15 minutes to pack. We use bell services to transport our luggage to the next resort and then just spend the transfer day in a park like we normally would. So we don't feel like we're "homeless" because we'd be in a park during the middle of the day anyway.

This is why we did a spilt stay last trip.
CR for the days we went to MK for the 24 hour day
YC when we went to HS for SWW

We've done it before. We almost always do a partial split (usually Pop for arrival night, or for the weekend if arriving on a Friday) and then move to a deluxe for the remainder. We have done one triple split (BC/CR/AoA) to try out the different resorts. I am currently faced with another triple split since the last two nights of our next stay are unavailable at BC, GIVIBG us a 1-night Pop/6-night BC/2-night??? Stay. It's not ideal, but if you get 4+ nights at your preferred resort it's worth it. We almost always drive, and I'm able to pack accordingly. I have a carry-on size that travels to all resorts with toiletries, shoes and swimsuits. I pack for just the nights we will be in the split in separate suitcases and leave the rest in the car.

Who has done it ?? How did it go?? I am seriously considering doing a three part split for our upcoming trip in August !! Am I crazy? I really , really , really want to stay at POLY but it is only available in the middle of our stay .. been checking for months!
3 resorts? In the same trip? That's crazy ;)

We're doing 3 this time, but arranged it so it doesn't affect park time. We do a night at Pop Century when we arrive, then check in at the Poly the next day (no park tickets, so just check-in, downtown, pool) for 5 nights, then switch to Beach Club for 5 nights (on our waterpark day - we'll check out of the Poly, drive to Typhoon Lagoon, then check in at BC when we're done).
