Split Stay Questions

We are headed to WDW in July. There was not enough availability at BWV the week we wanted to go, so we decided to do a split stay between WLV and BWV. This has me trying to find answers to a few questions, so if anyone can help out, I would appreciate it!

1. We plan on flying and using ME. Will there be an issue with us arriving at one resort and departing from another? Is there something specific we need to do for this?

2. We plan on using the DDP. We are thinking of the DxDP for the first half and the regular DDP for the second. How will this work if we want to use up our Dx credits on check-in day?

3. How does it work in terms of moving our luggage? Can Bell Services transfer them between resorts? Issues with this?

4. We usually take afternoon breaks- is this going to be an issue? Maybe plan a later dinner so we will assume no room is ready until after 4? We are planning on online check-in, so we should get a notification if the room is ready earlier?

Thank you for any advice you can give me! We are July BWV vets- but this is our first stay at WLV. Excited to check it out- and also love to hear generic advice on staying there as well!

No problem at all. When you register for ME you enter in your reservation number and select when you need it

Do you mean check in on stay #1 or #2? If it is #1, just got to the hotel first to check in and then you are good to go to use your Dining Plan. If you are talking about using dome of your DxDP on the day you check out of hotel #1 and into day #2, you are okay because they do not expire until midnight on day of checkout. If you are trying to combine the two dining plans for one meal, then you might have a problem. Hopefully someone will be able to answer that.

The sure can! You just need to bring your bags down to Bell Services and they will arrange to have them moved.

You will get either an email or text message depending on the notification option you choose when you check in.

Sorry I was not clear. DxDP for stay #1 and use the last of those credits on the day we check out of WLV and into BWV. We would do a regular DDP then at BWV, but probably not need to start using those credits until day #2 of our stay there. (Since we will fly out later in the day at the end of our stay we could have enough credits for the last day that way.) I was just not sure how they would figure out which ones to use? Plus, the DxDP has appetizers- the regular does not- and we have a restaurant we are planning on that first night where we would enjoy the appetizers. Didn't want them to take the wrong credit and we get charged for the appetizers!

I believe you just need to tell the restaurant to make sure to take the credits from the correct reservation.

Online check in doesn't give you any features that a physical check in does. In fact since you are doing a split stay I would for sure check in at the front desk, you might have some issues to deal with because of the split stay.

Thanks! Guess I need to call and clarify the DDP issue before I make ADRs this weekend- it will impact how we use credits if we have to be done before we check in... The reservations are already made and both names are the same. Interesting that this has changed, but not necessarily surprising!

My plan all along had been to stop by the desk and make sure everything was set and working as it should be. I just wanted to get the room ready alert so we could head to a park for a bit first.

The front desk will text you with your room number when it's ready. Has nothing to do with online check in.

The split stay DDP problem is a front desk issue so call them. You will be answered by the call center so insist that they transfer you.

I agree with disneynutz. I'd do online check in for first resort only and not second. Then go to desk at second resort once you've used the dining credits all up (breakfast, lunch and/or early dinner that day). And we've done 2 recent split stay trips where BWV was the second part and our room was not ready until 3pm once and then 4:15pm the second time. They likely will not get you a room any earlier than 3pm. Let bell service deal with you luggage transfer and then go about your day at the parks or whatever (we had a car with us and just put everything in car and drove over to BWV and then went into Epcot). Maybe you want to use all the dining credits on breakfast and lunch so that you can go check in. I considered doing something similar. I really wish they offered another type of DP that was between regular and deluxe...don't need 3TS per day but wouldn't mind 2.

They'd all be on the MB and everything is on ALL your MBs. Not sure how they'd be able to differentiate...must be able to though.

I thought if one was Dx and one was regular, things would be more identifiable? Plus, if you can't combine credits from plan to plan, there MUST be a way to differentiate the credits.

Our last BWV stay was also a late one for the room being ready. Does Bell Services bring the bags to the room, or do we pick them up and bring them to the room ourselves (and should we tip when we leave them off or pick them up)?

You can retrieve the bags yourself or call bell services from your room and ask for them to be brought up. I tip when they bring me the bags, about $1 per bag and round up.

Hello, We just did a split stay in beginning of the month w/ the DDP. Your 1st DDP is good until midnight the day you check out of the resort. You can check in anytime during the day for your next resort. Upon checking in, make sure you advise the CM that you still have credits from first part of the stay.

Worked seamlessly for us.

It is usually a good idea to visit the front desk of the 1st resort to fully check out, before checking in at the new one. It can help prevent check-in problems at the new resort.

Thank you! I did call and confirmed that the credits are still good until midnight. I will make sure we stop by both resort desks- WLV to check out and BWV to check in. I will also confirm at restaurant that they use the credits from the 1st DDP before starting the 2nd. Since we will switch from DxDDP to regular it should be easier to tell...
