Split stay question

We are doing a split stay for the first time. 9/30-10/3 at All Stars for Disney’s 50th then 10/3-10/5 at Contemporary for our 25th anniversary. I’ve noted on our Contemporary check in that we plan to be there around 9 am but realistically when can we expect a room? We have a photo reservation in MK at 3:45 and will need time to get dressed. Thanks!

For reference, I selected 7am check in at riviera and our room was ready around 1pm. No room requests and checked the box to prioritize room being ready vs room requests

If you don't care where you're assigned, you can get one early if one is available in your room type. I'd say normally (pre-covid), having a room ready between 10 and 2 wouldn't be a big deal. I just don't know how many people will be checking out on Sunday morning.

Honestly, you might be cutting it close. I've been reading several reports of rooms not being ready at the 3:00 check in time.

I've had rooms ready very early, before checking out of the first resort and as late as 7pm. I had a migraine once when we were switching rooms and I asked the front desk of my first resort for a later check out, explaining why. They contacted the second resort to be sure I would have a room available before I checked out. If you explain what is going on, they may be able to work some magic for you.

Our last trip was a split stay and both check-ins came in early before noon. That was awesome but it was during a very slow week when the US pandemic peaked.

The trip before that our checkin was almost 3 hours late, and for that all we got was a shrug.

Its going to be crazy busy that weekend. Could go very smoothly but there’s no guarantee to get in early. It sounds like such a lovely trip. Happy 25th Anniversary! 😊 Could you possibly change the photo appt for a bit later? I’d rather not risk being stressed out trying to make the photo shoot. If you can’t get another time I think the best bet is arriving to the lobby early, let them know the situation and your first room preference is early checkin. Best of luck and have a great trip!

Thanks! I actually wanted our photos on the 4th (our actual anniversary) but with the split stay I couldn’t try to book the 4th until midnight last night and it was already fully booked. Thankfully I had booked the 3rd the other day when my window for my All Star stay opened as a back up plan. Right now there are no other time slots available for our entire trip so we just have to make the 3:45 time work! I guess worst case scenario we’ll be changing in a Contemporary bathroom. Lol.

They've even moved the DVC room check-in times back to 4:00 PM officially.

My family stayed at Pop Century in June and the room wasn’t ready until 5:45 pm. 😕

Plan for a late check-in, hope for the best!

I believe with how busy the resorts will be at that time, it'll be a real coin flip for you to get a room before 3/4pm. Technically, I think they will have your room assigned much earlier in the day (probably a day or 2 before), and when that specific room is clean, you'll get it. If you check in at the front desk of CR in the morning, and tell them you can be flexible with the room they give you, you might have a slightly better chance of getting one earlier. Good luck, and Happy Anniversary!
